Hey, i think my tranny is starting to give out...i have an ATX zetec. Its a 96' with 91,000 miles on it.When i stay at a steady speed it drives normal. But at anytime, anywhere through out the gears, it seems that when i give it gas i can feel my car jerking like its trying to catch.Is there something i could do to help it without having to get a new tranny? Perhaps flushing the tranny and using an anti slip additive?

If your ATX is on it's way out, the worst thing you could do is change the fluid. It might not work at all after that...

Bucking or jerking with any kind of throttle pedal could easily be the engine and may be as simple as plug wires. Possibly just plugs, but sounds much like the duratec plug wire symptoms.

Thanks for the ideas. I never thought to look at the plugs or wires but i will as soon as i get time and money. So The symptoms that my car has are normally the same that i would get if my plug wires or plugs were bad? It almost feels like my tranny is trying to catch as i excelerate. And its only when i give it gas. At a constant speed it seems to run smooth but with any acceleration i start to feel bogging and bucking. Thanks for the help. If anyone has any ideas that they would like to add i would appreciate it. Thanks
