A question I've been pondering is:
1)What manual tranny does the Focus have? I thought it came with the MTX-75, but then I remember Terry saying that the MTX-75 is no longer used in the US. So what's it packin?
2)The Getrag 6-spd couldn't handle more than 200HP, right? I think I read that somewhere...
Hmm...
Decisions, Decisions...

The Focus does come with a version of the MTX-75, the main difference between the Focus and Contour trannies is the shape of the tranny case re: mounting points and how the cable shift attaches to the shift tower. Other than that, the only differences with the actual transmission are some of the gearing ratios (Final Drive), but in design, it is still an MTX-75.
As for the Getrag, I've heard that it is not capable of high horsepower numbers, but this is hearsay at this point. The basis for this info came from the Focus RS in Europe, Ford decided to go with the MTX-75 tranny rather than the Getrag, and the rumor is/was that the six-speed is not up to the task of high horsepower situations. This could be true, or it could have been a cost situation...I've never seen any documented source say that the Getrag isn't capable, I've only heard this info from other people.
