Where to meet:
The McDonalds at the Monrovia / New Market (Rt 75) exit off of I-70

Steve, please let us know which way to head when we get off the exit, and anything else we may need to know.

When to meet:
6:00 AM(-ish) on Wed. 05-01-02

I will have my Talkabout (don't forget to bring some batteries for the talkabouts...AA's!) set on Ch 9-0, and my cell phone # is 410-322-1414......please post or PM you #'s...thanks! Don't forget to pack some snacks and drinks so we don't spend all of our money at the rest stops.

If anyone has trouble with the place and/or time, please feel free to post a reply. I know it's early, but we did this last year and it worked out just fine. I was watching the news last week and saw that a tunnel on I-70/76/80 (can't remember) near Pitt had an accident in it and it was backed up for 65 miles. God forbid we run in to anytyhing like that, but the earlier we leave the less traffic we hit in Balto, and the more time we give oursleves to get there.

Ah I see, I would go the first way. I came through there on my way back from HMS, but made the mistake of coming straight down from HMS on a smaller road to the Indiana Tnpk, BAD MISTAKE! Try to stay on main HWY's if at all possible.

US 23 is a 4 lane limited access highway. The only reason it isn't an interstate is because it doesn't leave Michigan. My preference (and I have driven to Michigan many many times) is to take the first route however. US 23 will take you around Ann Arbor, which could get ugly depending on what time you get there (you DO NOT want to be near Ann Arbor during rush hour). If you take I-69 North from I-80 (Indiana Toll Road) you won't hit a city bigger than Battle Creek in MI. Don't forget, the Speed Limit in MI is 70 and everyone pretty much does 85!

Oh yeah, another tip from someone who has been there before: Watch out in OH, most of the Highway Patrol units run laser. (That's how I got my first ticket years ago.) If you see something peeking out over the top of the center divider where it splits, assume it is a lightbar until you can confirm otherwise. They love to sit in the nooks and crannies of the concrete center divider. They are especially fond of cars w/o OH tags on the front. PA Troopers use K band almost without fail, so pay heed on K in PA. I don't want to have to examine any speeding tickets when I get to K'zoo.

Just got back from a camping trip...

Anyways, yes, it's the exit for New Market/Monrovia. At the exit, bare to the right and make a right at the stoplight onto Route 144. You'll see the shopping center off to the right with the McD's in it, just take the first right. So that's exit to the right, right, right. You still got my cell#?
