I would have to say that a true "Motorsports" business would have the knowledge and know-how to know what to buy for the customer, what the certain parts do and have the instrumentation to install these parts. Many "Motorsports" businesses are just selling parts and labor on thier spare time, which IMO is not a bad thing, as long as they can back what they sell and have knowledge of what they are selling... Just my 2c.

terry, what would u classify your place as: a general repair shop w/ knowledgeable owner or more of a motorsports shop. what kind of clientele do u cater to day-in,day-out.
...and yes, I did SEARCH first before asking.

Well, as far as I know, you're the only one here who truly has a shop all set up to install the things you sell Terry. I could be wrong on this, but I'm pretty sure Brad Noon and Chris Hightower (and the other I can't remember) are side businesses. Not implying they don't know their stuff cause from what I can tell they do, just trying to answer what I percieved as the question.

In the current age of internet and sport compacts, "Motorsports" is any business that has a web site or a phone number. Just because they distribute parts doesn't mean they necessarily know anything about actually making power, but a lot of their customers think exhaust tip diameter is the secret to horsepower so that doesn't matter.

To answer your question hmouta ,our shop is 99% Contour, 1% Cougar/Focus ,of that 99% Contour 80% are major repairs(engine/trans out etc) 20% upgrades/perf mods....we currently have 10 Contours 'on site' ,9 SVT's and 1 99 V6.......On 'ship in work' the transmission repairs and upgrades run at about 4-6 units per week average.......

Sounds like you need an employee, right? Seeing as my dumbass company is plannig to move all engineering down to Detroit (fugg that!) I will be looking for a new job soon. IS HMS#2 coming to the Eastside to distribute the love evenly across MI? Think I am joking - well I'm not!
