I would love to have one of those... I was talking to my friend's dad whom got a chance to drive one of those... he was told me the guy that was letting him drive it said "I DARE you to try and roll it.. I will give you $20 if you can roll this hummer"

he spend half an hour trying... couldnt do it.

I have driven all three H1,H2,H3. All slow!!! But i felt like i could roll over any thing in my way . With the H1 after you stop the body rocks back and forth like 5 times really weird. The first time i stoped I thought I was going to hit the car in front of me even though I was stoped. It was hard to get use to.

You know what's funny about that...

Back at my old base, the CE guys rolled one on a flat dirt road. Apparantly were doing 35-45 MPH and tried to make a sharp turn, sliding and the tires grabbing some hard dirt.

Ended up rolling completly on the nose (not touching the cab at all) ejecting the person in the turret position.

The 5th guy was lucky that he was ejected, otherwise it could have killed him.

Join the military, you'll get to drive one all the time.

Back in '95 when I was in the Army. We got a new hard-ass platoon Sgt. who did not like our red castle that we made out of cinder blocks. We'll I volunteered for the job and got my squad to load up the blocks in the back of a 4-door HMMWV. Dump was down some back roads and knowing that we didn't have jack to do after unloading. I proceeded to ford a couple of creeks and rip up the tank trails while introdcuing my a few of my privates to my mad driving skills.

As I'm bringing the HMMWV back into the motor-pool one of our mechanics comes running out and tells me to park it. He grabs a jack and lifts up the passenger side rear. He gets it high enough that the entire rear axle and wheel just falls off.

After speaking with numerousmechanics none of them had ever seen someone break a rear axle. No idea how I did it.

Bestpart of the HUMMWV was the approach and departure angles along with its agility to damn near scale any verticle surface while stying glued do its low center of gravity. It had a tenacisou grip and those 37" Wrangler tires were beefy.

with the H1 you probably could. The rest are all garbage. the h2 is weak and celarly not designed for true off road use. google some vids...there's plenty of h2's with their guts falling out and breaking apart. disgusting.

The description says "All electronic components are sealed to enable the truck to ford a stream up to 5 feet deep, in case you want to drive under water.. .".

Would the tires need to be filled with liquid instead of air to keep the Humvee from floating? Do Humvees require a special water forging system to keep the engine's air intake system from taking in water?

My Ford F-150 4 wheel drive almost floats on the water.

eh..i don't think it'd float. Also, AFAIK, the army issue hummers have snorkles on the intakes that go up to the roof...on the passenger side. Though i think even the vcivilian ones have the intake on top of the hood.

Marine issue...

And no, it won't float! The old unarmored Humvees weighed in at 5,200lbs before equipment... Source

Uparmored AF (M1116) Humvees weigh in at 9800lbs... Source

I wish they'd ditch the 6.5L TD and throw in the Duramax like in the H1 Alpha... but I can't complain too much since the 6.5 TD is a helluva lot more powerful than the old 6.2L diesel they were equipped with from the get go (the 6.2L I drove barely had enough power to go up a normal hill). EDIT: guess this explains it...

And from what I've seen from a combat loader and bobcat, the tires are filled with some material instead of air.

This picture shows a snorkel or deep water forging kit.

The one on eBay doesn't have that.
