BUFFALO, N.Y. -- An Iraq war veteran who lost an arm and leg in a roadside bombing was mugged during a night out from the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, according to an Associated Press report.


Lance Cpl. Mark Beyers, 27, and his wife were attacked and robbed as they left a restaurant in Bethesda, Md. on July 22. The Marine from western New York was dining out while finishing up rehabilitation at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

As they left the restaurant, five men approached them and asked for a cigarette. Denise Beyers told The Buffalo News they gave the men a cigarette -- but then the men grabbed her purse, kicked her and knocked the couple to the ground.

The thieves made off with $500 just wired to them by a relative.




This $hit pisses me off. Man some people will burn badly later in life.

His wife is also a marine reservist. Those people will get what's coming to them eventually.

What kind of coward muggs a woman and a man with only two limbs? And how in the hell did five of them find eachother???

Do you think that the muggers knew the guy? Five people mugging a couple after they just left a restaurant seems stupid. You have to split the cash five ways after the victims payed to eat. Five people mugging them after they just got $500 wired to him seems more likely. And even more pathetic.

Could have just been 5 'friends' hanging out looking for trouble and jumped on what they saw as an easy opportunity. I doubt that couple hung around low lifes like that, much less would let them know they had $500 wired to them.

I dunno, just throwing it out there. And do you know the couple? Maybe a Marine buddy of his ended up hooked on something and needed the money. It doesn't have to be that he hangs out with criminals all the time.

I didn't say it wasn't possible, I just highly doubt they knew them.

where did this story come from? i always hang out in Bethesda and i haven't heard of anything like this happening. it really dosn't seem like the type of area (not saying it's impossible) where something like that would happen. i didn't even hear anything on the news or in the paper about it. do you ahvea link???
