With Cougars being the same general platform I thought I might get an answer here. A friend of my daughter and son-in-law ows a little used car lot and he has a 99 Cougar that he needs to disable the anti-theft system on. I know there's nothing nefarious going on like stealing cars or anything like that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not really feasible.

Basically, you'd have to remove the PATS module and install the necessary plugs that an export car would have had. Then you'd either need to replaced the PCM with a non-PATS version or have the current PCM re-flashed to a non-PATS flash.

He'd be better to get at least two PATS keys and have them programmed into the PCM by either a well-equipped locksmith or a Ford dealer.

Get a PATS key and pull out the RFID chip. Then glue it to the PATS antenna which is a ring around the ignition cyl (behind the plastics)

PATS is inside the ECU, so you really can't disable it. Just fool it.
