Pretty version of the WRX. Sometimes ends up being cheaper then the original. This years upgrade to the 2.5 turbo is a huge step forward. I'm a fan of it. Should be reliable and parts would be easy to find.. tuner parts should be easy also.

Oh yea , the Saab-aru . It's OK in my book . Especially seeing the way Subaru screwed up the look of the front end of the latest WRX (my opinion , of course) .

My buddy has one, but I am pretty sure they stopped making them before they could get the 2.5L.

Unfortunatly I believe that the one I am interested in is just the 2.5RS version not the wrx (which if I am right will lead to a subsequent lessening of interest). However the salesman is just some southern "good ol boy" who knows nothing about the car and I havent been by yet to check it out. When I called on it and asked if it was the aero or the linear model he kept telling me that it is just a saab. Because of saab's luxury intentions I expect some weight gains but does anyone know for sure about that?

Edmunds.com
2005 Saab 9-2x linear - 3070 pounds
2005 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS wagon - 3062 pounds
subaru.com
2006 Subaru Impreza 2.5i sport wagon - 3071 pounds (manual, +49 for auto)
The weight bears out what I thought in look/touch/feel. The sprucing up is minimal and superficial.

one thing i dont like about the wrx's (all subies?) is that leather is not available. i know its not as sporty but i prefer it over cloth. with the saab version, you can have your cake and eat it too! (er, leather).

i drove a 92X Aero automatic 2 years ago....GET THE MANUAL! the automatic shift points are not matched well to the engine and the car feels really sluggish in any gear.
the best thing about the Saabaru in my opinion if the steering input/feel.

I wouldn't bother with a non-Aero 9-2x. Watch the resale because GM was letting these (Aero w/ no options) go for under $20k last summer with the employee price for all and rebates. It's worth $20k, but not $25 IMHO. Very small passenger space inside. I'd rather drive a Mazda 3 hatch for less money.
