This past weekend was my first two-wheeled trackday at Grattan Raceway in Belding, MI. Saturday was pretty basic...the morning consisted of school (track flags/etiquette, gear, track layout, and bike prep). The afternoon was 3 sessions, with the first being a slow, learn-the-track session. Grattan sure is a technical track!
Sunday was more of a test and tune day. Riding from 9:30 to about 3:30 (and then the rain began falling). I lowsided in turn 3 (downhill, off camber turn) due to my poor line through the turn and too much throttle. Bike was okay, just broken plastics, but no bent/broken mechanical parts. I rode later in the day, with some help from a very good WERA racer (Brian).
A pretty chilly weekend, but cheap and good for the beginning of the season.
Here's some pics, I need a new camera. The last pics of me were taken by a professional, hence the good quality
Fototime Link Some things I learned:
1) RC51s with aftermarket cans are loud
2) I need much smoother inputs on throttle and downshifting
3) Leathers will save your ass!
4) I need more trackdays, it's addicting
5) I've got a LOT to learn
Should be back in a couple months to do a trackschool, I can't wait!
