Alright i got scared when i saw a picture of the timing covers of the 3.0 and the 2.5

On my 3.0 motor they set everything for a 3.0 with the 2.5 timing chain cover. I have the ford escape intake cams and mazda 6 exhaust cams. if this makes a differance. We used all the 2.5 liter timing parts. what do i need to do?

I think everything should be OK. Just check that the position of the crank timing wheel (right behind the timing cover) is set correctly for use of the 2.5 cover. I had mine wrong originally and the damn thing wouldn't start. Had one hell of a time pulling the cover loose and correcting it while the motor was still in the car so check first.

thanks but one more thing i am using escape intake cams and mazda 6 exhaust cams..does that change anything
buck shot answered my question..

In any case it doesn't matter a single fudgin bit if you used plutonium upgraded NASA designed stuff if you're using the 2.5 cover. The crank fires off of the placement of the pickup sensors located in the timing cover. The 3L cover has different sensor locations than the 2.5 cover so the crank timing wheel has to correspond with whatever cover is used regardless of what cams, etc you're running.

i am using the 3.0 timing cover, i also have escape intake cams and mazda6 exhaust cams

make sure you set the pulse wheel to the 2.5L setting. i dont know why someone would say that the 3.0 and 2.5 coversd have different sensor locations, my 3.0 cover has the sensor locations in the same place.

EDIT: if using these said cams you gotta use the 3.0 timing components

Yes, because of the width on the chains. 8mm(escape) vs the olderstyle 10mm.

My numbers maybe incorrect, but just use whatever timing components that cams came with!

Escape motors use the same crank sensor position as the 2.5L engines so there is no issue. Fitting the covers/engines shouldn't be affected by your choice of timing components. As long as you are consistent with each type they should work.
Both small and large pitch chains and timing components fit behind either timing cover.

You will only have a problem if you have a taurus/sable motor and left the pulsewheel stock for the taurus/sable....which would be to accomodate the left side sensor mount as you look at the crank pulley. Otherwise you will be fine.
