well your only real way of making sure the support is ok is to have it welded again. im not quite sure what grade 8 hardware is but i have an idea but i still say have it welded

So best bet is to:

1.) Strip front myself except for rad support
2.) Bring car and rad support to shop to have it replaced
3.) Assemble front back myself

Is that the best path to follow with this then? I just got an estimate of $2300 from my insurance company, and I'm pretty sure I can get the parts for about $300 to $400 tops. And figure another $400 for the shop to replace the rad support.

do you know anyone that can weld?? cuz if you do just take some pics of alignments and hole on the support and just have a friend weld the seams or a local body shop might just charge you labor to weld the seams. but yeah doing some yourself cuts the price down

First off let me thank dpa43 (Dave) for hosting my pics which are below:

The quality is poor, but you can clearly see the damage. I do not know anyone with a welder that could pull this off, but a shop just quoted me $200 for the work on the rad support. After seeing these pictures, can you tell me how in gods name the hood survived?

Loos to me like she didn't hit square with the back ot the truck, only caught the corner of the bumper.Bumper might of been just the right size to fit between the hood and front bumper. No airbags went off got lucky.Use duct tape to hold the support in

I'd recomend going to the yard and lookin for the parts. The work is hard but its fun to learn. I just straightened my rear cross member and installed new trunk an dbumper assembly. The estimate was 1900.00 but I did the work myself and the parts were 133.37 and the pain was 300 and that was to paint all my body kit pieces as well so I got more done with the 500.00 dollars from insurance than the 1900.00 would have.

we carry a replacement header panel and radiator support.. You might need more parts but those are 2 pieces that appear to need replacing from the pics above..

the same thing happened to my car (hit and run though). My radiator supoprt was not as bent as that one, and the total damages came out to a hair over $4500.
