Regardless whether you are military or civilian.

I'm a civilian pilot. I'm not checked out in any complex, high performance, turboprop, jet, or rotorcraft.

I've only flown Cessnas and Pipers.

What about you guys?!

I am an instrument rated pilot with high performance/complex sign off. I could be a commercial pilot if I would just take the damn written test and practical...

I am/was a Commercial Rated pilot with 6,000+ hours. I have been current in just about all Cessna, Beechcraft and Piper aircraft with recip engines, no jet powered. I have sailplane time, didn't care for it and stopped. Have helicopter time, no rating (too damned expansive).
Largest aircraft flown Boeing 707, BAC111, Boeing 727 and P2V-5E Lockheed Neptune (Two 3350 Pratt Whiney and two J34 jets) P2V's were Anti-Subarine Aircraft. My P2V was not an ASM but a flying tested for some classified scientific equipment. The flight crew was required to have a security clearance of at least Top Secret with DOD endorsement.

Then I had to heat surgery done. Quad bypass. Therefore the Commercial ticket is not available to me. I have been told I might be able to restore my Private ticket.

Just a fair warning "once av. gas or JetA gets into a pilots blood he is hooked on aviation for the rest of his life."

Since I can not be Pilot in Command any longer I stay close to aviation by being a docent and historian at the
Frontiers of Flight, Smithsonian Museum Associate. I like airplanes and people who like airplanes.

BTW my favorite single engine aircraft was the Piper Comanchee with the 250HP. I am not a Piper fan but I loved this aircraft. High performance and a "Pilots" airplane.

I hope you continue to fly. Build your time, get an ATP rating. Airlines and Corporations are now hiring civilian trained pilots. Get your CFI rating and or ferry aicraft to build time.

Warmonger, a CEGer is in helicopter training in the Army.

Best Wishes,
Bill

I hope to be in about five years. If all goes as planned, a Naval Aviator for the Marine Corps. Not sure if I want to attempt fixed wing or rotary, but as long as I'm in the Marines, I'm not too concerned with my MOS. I've always wanted to fly small civilian aircraft, had a friend that got his license at 18. I could just never afford to try it out. Perhaps somewhere down the line...

How long have you been flying?

I have been flying since 1954. and had to quit flying in 1993 and miss flying very much. It was a large part of my life. To me nothing ever was as great as my wife, my daughter and FLYING.

Me, not long. Not even a year. But, I had to stop last year because I ran out of money.

Haven't flown since.

I'm attending everglades university majoring in aviation technology. Why didn't I go for professional pilot? I don't need FAA licesnes to graduate!

My academic advisor is an IFR rated pilot, one of my teachers flies Gulfstream IV, V, and another teacher is a retired ATP, ex-747, 727, 707, DC-8, etc. I have him next month for AERODYNAMICS! YES!!!! I love flying!

I earned my PPL in 2002 and flew for a couple of years (about 120 hours). Things got a little too expensive to just poke holes in the sky. I really wanted to be able to travel but renting and spending a weekend was just too rich for my blood. My hope now is to build an RV-7A and use it to fufill my desire to travel.

I'm not a pilot but an Air Force Flight Attendant. I've been flying since this February on a military version of the BBJ 737-700 and have ~500 hours so far. I absolutely love what I do and when I'm not cooking and taking care of the PAX I can usually be found upfront bs'ing with the pilots and listening in on the radio. It's a sweet thing flying all over the world.
