Just got back from a 14-day vacation. We took my wife's 98.5 SE. Here's some numbers from the trip:

States Visited = 9 (OK, TX, NM, AZ, NV, UT, ID, WY, CO)
Miles Traveled = 4,227
Gallons Consumed = 141.9
Average Overall MPG = 29.8 (loaded car w/ AC on all the time)
Average Gas Cost = $2.539/gallon

Here are two (small) pictures:

The Contour doesn't perform too well in dry sand! Some college students visiting these same sand dunes (north of Rexburg, ID) helped dig/push the poor Contour out.

The Contour performed flawlessly, even though our travels brought us through hot deserts, high elevations (long 10% uphill grades), while being loaded down with 2 adults, 2 kids and lots of junk in the trunk. Contiques may be getting old, but they can still handle the rigors of a long road-trip if they've been well-maintained.

I agree. The contour is a great trip car. I've put 20,000 miles in trips over the last 2 years, and never had any problems on a trip. I love my car.

nicely done, its always nice to take the contours out, last month, i drove 10 and a half hours to my brothers, stayed 2 weeks, then drove back, on the way back it i stoped only twice, gas/food/restroom, stopes totalled about 30 mins, and the rest was 10 hr, my mom rode shotgun, i drove it all, it was great, my 1st long trip, before that it was like a 7 hour drive, to wis,

Wow, that's a lot of miles. Hope you had a fun time, it sounds like it. Time for an oil change!

I was going to make a comment when I saw the picture, then I saw the above statement.

Glad to hear there were no Contour issues . Sounds like it must've been a cool trip . That first pic is a pretty cool one , hope you've got a full-sized version .

I'll be making a quasi-long trip in our SVT in 2 weeks . Around 2,000 miles in 7 days hitting 7 states . Hoping for the best .
