My car is at its stage where i have a choice to tune the motor on a engine dyno or in the car with the tranny. Its only going to cost a few hundred more for the engine dyno. I figure this is a safe way to break in the new pistons and rods. What are the other benefits to tuning the motor out of the car?

Has anyone tuned the motor out of the car yet ?
What do you guys think?

Do it with the motor in the car so it's tuned with all the correct losses due to wheels tires, etc.

I would really like to stay to the topic...But just to let you know i have two accounts and i don't keep much money in one and i wrote him a check with the wrong account number on it. I did not have any checks left so i had to get one from the bank. The banks computer system was down so they could not tell me which had the money in it. and i didn't have the accounts long enough to figure which one was which.



Anyways, The engine shop reccommended to do it on the engine dyno. They said that they do this with all af their race cars. Any other input.

How are they going to compensate for load? I recommend a chassis dyno.

don't you guys think it would be a good idea because of the set up i have? I have the mazda exhaust cams installed and i would have to pull the motor to change them out.

This is a Contour we're talking about not an f'n Foruma 1 car last I checked. Stazi gave you the correct advice. Enough said. Have the car dyno'd when the car/trans is broken in.
