Do we know that this is his 1st?

Which is why, in my first post in this thread, I stated, "if you have never been on a bike before, get something slower."

It was just a question if anyone actually new if it was his 1st or not...but maybe I should go back & dissect each post so as not to offend you w/ random questions that have been potentially addressed...

Don't get the gixxer 600 unless you want to look like a tool. The GSXR 1000 is an great bike, but the smaller bikes are for posers. Get the Yamaha or the Honda.

You'll be a smear on the road if you buy a 1000 for your first bike. That is totally stupid.

I agree the 600's are all too small and slow (for me and other experienced riders) but that doens't mean that if you're a big guy you should get a liter bike. That's insane. If you're a big guy like over 5'10" then buy a cruiser-style bike like a Virago or something like that before geting a liter sport bike.

I saw a guy walk in and buy a Hayabusa as his first bike. No more than two blocks down the road, he low-sided it. F@$ken moron!

R6's are too slow, look at a ZX12R or a R1 instead.

come on

I learned on a 250 and my first bike is now a 750 cruiser. It is in no way too fast as a first bike.

Try using an R6 or a modern Gixxer, it probably weighs about half of your cruiser with twice the hp and a very very peaky powerband.

If that's your first bike, it's gonna [censored] you up bad. 95% of new guys that start on modern supersport 600's usually end up crippled or dead in 6 mo's.

Buy a used Ninja 250, an old ZX-6E / fizzer, something early 90's. They should be cheap and you can splurge the rest on really really good gear.

There's also the argument he's gonna drop it too. It's gonna be sad dropping a beautiful R6. You can toss the gixxer off a cliff for all I care though

That's kind of an oxymoron.

There is no good liter bike as a starter.

I say he should get a Virago 750 or similar. They steer a lot easier than a sportbike as people freak out when getting on a sport bike as you REALLY need to be able to counter steer without thinking about it - if you have to tell yourself to counter steer, you're gonna hit the guard rail, hit an oncoming car head on, or go off the road!

Cruisers have a more natural feeling (a la pushbike) so counter steering them for sharper turns comes easier.

LOL @ video! What a fuggen squid! Nice high-side. Lucky he was going slow. The usual result of a high side is a broken collar-bone - if you're lucky!

Might help to read the thread before you post in it. Seemed you were suggesting I had not considered that possibility.

Another stupid thread on CEG? Neverrrrrrrr!

Anyone who says that 600s are too slow really needs a punch in the sack. Come ride with me someday. I'll introduce you to a few people who will decimate just about anyone on this board on their 250cc, 80 HP, 2-Stroke. Bring your R1kZX10 if you want.

Get what you can afford to fix. You'll die just as easy on anything and certainly break lots of stuff.
