OP absoluteSVT98 New CEG\'er A Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 31 Washington, DC	Hello everybody, First up, I own a 1998 Ford Contour SVT, 122000 miles on it, manual. So my transmission has got 122000 miles on it and i have the notorious 3rd gear grind. Lately, I even feel like it is slipping a little bit. In any case, so first i was thinking of pulling it and rebuilding it, but then I found a nice transmission with 20000 miles on it from a local junkyard. It comes out of a 1998 SE. So the guy from the junkyard asks me for my VIN number, for warranty reasons (90 days), but I do not want to give him my VIN as he says the transmission will not fit an SVT and it would void the warranty. He says the warranty will only hold if it is being put back into an SE. Meanwhile, I spoke with Terry Haines, and he told me that there should not be any fitment issues as it is a direct replacement. So what am I supposed to do as I would like the warranty? what are everybody's thoughts? thx in advance Peter Last edited by absoluteSVT98; 02/17/05 09:51 PM.

However, Terry charges 400 $ labor, plus parts, plus shipping...So it will be more...In any case, what would happen if I gave the junk yard dude a random Contour SE vin number...(is that even legal) thx, Peter
