Hey all, I wrote about this before but it's really happening now. I'm flying to Alaska, buying a (rare) CJ-8 and driving it back to NC with my brother.

Rockcrawler.com is putting up my daily trip reports and photos and www.4wd.com is sponsoring the trip and they're sending a ton of parts to AK for me to use.

A friend of mine has a highly modified CJ-8 with a big block , headers , sidepipes , HUGE off-road tires & loads of shiney stuff . What a monster ! He ran it at the drags (on a dare) and it ran high 14's with the big tires on it !!

Then there's my boss ... he's got a bone stock (& a bit rusty) CJ-8 that he uses for plowing snow & stuff like that . I always kinda liked Jeeps .

my brother sold his CJ-8 to some guy in Michigan. that fellow called on friday night and was here in DC saturday afternoon. they even had to tow it back, must have been hard up for one.

But I think I have an even more insane idea: Next year me and 4-5 of my friends are going to fly up to Canada (probably Winnipeg or something), buy a conversion van of some sorts, and try to get as far south on land as we can. Some have projected that we could make it to Panama, but I have no clue. We'll see. That's preliminary, of course.

A friend of mine worked in alaska on a fishing boat for 3 months, used some of the money to buy a land cruiser and drove it back to MI. Sounds like you are in for a pretty interesting adventure!
