Ok boyz and girls,
As you can see the price is now $500.oo Right now I need 10 orders, 5 pre-pay and another 5 more once the others are done.
Once again here is what its going to look like Carbon Fiber Hood
Weather you have a Red, Green, Sliver or Black Contour, this mod is sure going to turn some heads wink

I'm in! Just then only problem is that I don't think I can prepay. I got bigger bills to pay for, but I REALLY want this. It's a fully functional hood for the 99, correct?? No hood pins right?
Posted By: Chow Re: $500 Carbon Fiber Hood - 06/08/01 05:29 PM
yes just like the orginal, except carbon fiber

I'm pretty much in, need to make sure I still have a job and need to find out my raise, but should know everything by July 1.

How do these attach? how do you clean?

I should be able to pre-pay by June 15th (payday). Would cut into my "fun" money for vacation at the end of the month though frown Keep us posted on when you would need the cash by.

Some questions:

How much weight does it save over stock?

Does it attach using the same hinges as stock?

Come painted? Or can it be painted the same and will the finish be the same?
Posted By: Chow Re: $500 Carbon Fiber Hood - 06/08/01 07:20 PM
It uses the same hinges as the stock one, (its a bolt on mod)the color would be the black looking carbon fiber (real carbon)
As color is black, there is no need to color it inless you want to cover up the carbon fiber look, but comes with a clear coat. I do not know the weight diffrence in hoods at this time.

Good score...
but it looks too plain for me, I think I am going to find someone locally (already know who) and get one custom made with hopefully an air inlet in there somewhere...

What do you think I'm doing. Getting this for car shows and stuff, and modifying my stock one to look more aggressive for performance. laugh

im just curious why i would shell out 500$ for a hood without a scoop or any significant mods, if it is just like stock hood only carbonfiber why the hell would i buy it???

im serious what is the purpose of this mod

If you're into the carbon fibre look, it's for you, otherwise it should drop the weight down on your car a bit.

Does anyone have a picture of a carbon fiber hood on a car or could someone photoshop a picture for us skeptical about buying the hood. Thanks
Posted By: Silva Bulitt Re: $500 Carbon Fiber Hood - 06/17/01 11:44 PM
Chow, why aint there gonna be any subtle changes to the hood besides it just being carbon fiber.

Like I've mentioned before why not make the complete center of the hood have a rise starting from 0" at nose to about 1 1/2" at the cowl, with the rear being a vent for heat to escape from the engine bay, probably wouldn't change cost much, if at all, and would help out a bunch with heatsoak.

You probably won't be able to convince to many people to just swap a hood that looks the same as stock, save for carbon fiber and a little less weight, for $500, so why not do it right, you've got the connections already so make it function and look a little different from stock at least. Like I said my suggestion will probably not change price to much, but I guarantee people will be more prone to by it. At least that way it'll be more justifiable why I(you) spent $500 for a hood, CARBON OR NOT!!!

I'll be in than, but as of now I'm not!!!

I say everyone should agree and push for my suggestion, there should be no ram air, at least with carbon, probably gonna cost up in the G's!!! Like they say "FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION" and not "FUNCTION FOLLOWS FORM!"
confused

I'm with quicksilver... He's got the right idea... We need to vent the engine bay...
I don't really want to go with the carbon fiber hood though... If it is available with that dark red/black carbon fiber look, I will think about it... I'd rather get a fiberglass one, for I will probably want to paint mine... Anyways... Keep me posted..

Is this still on?
Posted By: DconNavi Re: $500 Carbon Fiber Hood - 06/20/01 02:53 AM
i am thinking about buying a Mustang or WRX scoop and having it molded into the hood over the intake runners. Keeping the engine cooler.
