i need to know asap what the compression on the zetec is supposed to be. i just ran a compression test on mine and it's at 150 140 110 125 so i'm thinking not good. thanks.

Stick it in your butt and rotate.

Ouch. That's not good. You usually want to be within 5-10% of each other. If your highest cyl was 150 then your lowest should be above 135.

I tested mine when I first got it but I can't remember what the readings were. Maybe someone has a manual handy.

Also, did your test all cylinders one way and then back? (Test one through four, put the plugs back in, run it for a few minutes, and then test four to one.) The first cylinder may have had more oil on the cyl walls creating a better seal.

You may also want to borrow a leakdown tester from someone. That way if there is a problem, you can pinpoint it.

You'd like to see readings greater than 170. 160 is ok, 150 not so good. Anything lower and the engine is telling you something is wrong.

I forgot to ask earlier... Are you burning alot of oil?

Hopefully it's just the rings and there's nothing wrong with the head.

If you get a leakdown tester, then you can determine if its the piston rings, intake valves, or exhaust valves.

it's not burning a lot, but it doesn't smell right. almost a rich smell.

That can also be bad. If the O2 sensors are shot, it can run rich. Running excessively rich thins out your oil. Thin oil leads to premature wear. Premature wear=bad compression.
