The fan only works when the A/C is on, if its off the temp goes almost to the Red and smells abit...........

Check the radiator fan resistor and the ECT sensor.

Page 2 of the first topic, will be helpful. Even though you have 1 fan the circuit is the same otherwise. Just turn on the a/c when the engine temp goes above R to avoid overheating until you solve the problem.
