So confused about Swaybar

Ok, ive been reading up on some of the other threads(searching) for information about a rear sway bar upgrade. Ive read that it improves body roll REALLY well and understeer problems also. Ive read that you need to get new Swaybar mounts or the old ones will break and bad things happen. My questions are this: 1. is the Aussie bar better than the 21mm sway bar? 2. People say you need to reinforce the subframe.. how do i do this? do i need to do it if im just doing a swaybar upgrade?
Thanks guys. Any other information of what i need to do along with what ive already said would be really appreciated.
P.S. i know i need new poly bushings.

I believe the Aussie bar is hollow... which is a good thing. I upgraded my LX 16mm to a SVT bar... and didn't bother reinforcing the subfame, and haven't had any problems. However, moving up to something like the BAT or Aussie bar, you might want to. Better safe than sorry. There is info on that in the sticky at the top of this forum. My SVT bar plus BAT poly bushings made a huge difference on how the car holds the road. Easily up there on the best mods I have done, and it was only about $50 for everything... the bar, the bushings, and having a garage install everything for me.

You can find a reinforced rear subframe at BAT as well as other places if you don't want to try to beef it up yourself.

Do i really need to beef it up? or can i just add new Swaybar clamps? If i do need to upgrade, what would need to be done to make it not-crap.

It isn't the clamps that break, it is the subframe mount where the clamps go. Yes, some stock SVT bars will break the mount, but for the most part an SVT bar will be fine without reinforcement. Anything larger and it will just be a matter of time before it breaks. Mine was almost two years on my BAT bar and they finally broke.

Ill be getting the 21mm bar if anything, so what would be needed to strengthen up the mount? just a spot weld?

Little metal strips welded on.
SEARCH for "boxed subframe" to find pictures of Bradness' work. THe picture is 'worth a thousand words' so if you have ANY mechanical skill then you'll understand when you see it. If not, just buy one from Bradness and have it installed when yours finally breaks.
