HVAC Panels, Gauges, and Headlight Switches.
#1181621 - 03/02/06 01:28 AM

OK I am ready to sell them.

The only thing that will change from the HVAC you see here is I will be making the blue on the temp a lighter shade of blue, not alot lighter but just a bit.

Heres some new pics. It was rather hard getting good night shots, but I did the best I could.

Yellow Lighting

Red Lighting, which looks much better in person.

Blue Lighting(Ill get the new pics with the knobs lit tonight)

Black Face

White Face With new Blue lighting

I do not have the headlight switch done yet, as I have yet to recieve one. I have a scan of one, but really need one here with me so I can test it.

Pricing will be as follows.

HVAC~$25
Headlight~$10

Gauges + HVAC + Headlight Switch(which you will receive once they become available) $85+ shipping

Gauges + HVAC $80+ shipping

HVAC+ Headlight Switch $30 + shipping This will normally be $35 But for you guys Ill give a combo discount.

Now for the guys that were in the first GP and want these. Please post in a new GP so that everyone can get some sort of discount on the HVAC/Headlight switch deal.

Now I am not sure who wants to set up what GP.

I will say this.

No matter what the GP 1-5 ppl get 5% discount, 5-10 ppl get a 10% discount, 10-15ppl 15% discount, and 15+ ppl will get a 20% discount on any given GP with more than 15 ppl.

So if you want the best price, nows the time to tell all your friends, spread the word far and wide. This GP will end MARCH 19th. All items ordered must be paid by MARCH 24th. All items ordered will be shipped no later than APRIL 1st

How do those guidelines sound to everyone? If you cant wait that long to get your hands on them, I will have them at my website by the weekend.

MAKE SURE YOU NOTE WHICH FACE(BLACK/WHITE) AND WHICH NIGHT COLOR(BLUE/RED/YELLOW/GREEN/??????)

IF ORDERING GAUGES MAKE SURE YOU NOTE WHAT YEAR/SPEEDO/FACE COLOR/ LIGHT COLOR, and please pm me if you want something like flames etc....

ALSO, be sure to check out my new Powerline Series, which can be made for the Contour

are these overlays like the indiglos? r u doing all the gauges available in black or white then in the different lighting? is that just like changing the stock bulbs to different color bulbs/leds?

They are not overlays in the sense that you will have to remove your stock faces to Install mine. And the gauges/HVAC panels are white face, black face, with whatever color lighting yes.

Sorry the following question but I have to clear this in my head.

If I order HVAC, GAUGES and Headlight for white, I have to supply the white faces, or......no?

I feel like a n0ob asking this.

No,

Sweet, now I just have to decide if I want all white or all black faces, and what color.

My gf thinks that white makes it look a little 'ricy', but I dont mind it. Any opinions?

If you wanna be different, then go with the white. I, for one, don't like the look of the stock black guages and changed that as soon as i could. White is more racy than ricy imo.

Here is something for everyone to think about: I have done a full red LED makeover, except for the HVAC. My stereo display is blue also. Should I get the HVAC in blue or red? I'm thinking blue may add some nice contrast...

I did my whole interior in red LEDs also. I bought the blue gauges from S&H, since it has a nice mix of red. I'm buying a red HVAC panel though.

My Alpine is being changed with another that lets me change to red instead of the blue lighting.

So basically my entire interior will light red except for a little mixed blue on the gauges. Hotness!

Yeah, that is why I'm trying to decide what color the HVAC should be. The door switches, headlight, ATX indicator, speedo/tach cluster, are all in red. The defroster switch is red but lights up bright blue. So possibly the HVAC in blue might look better than in red. The blue from the stereo already constrast nicely.

I may be interested in the entire kit but only if the white face HVAC and HL switch could be lit up like the "yellow lit black HVAC is" i.e. the letters are solid color not "back lit"

I want all the gauges to match so I would not want back lit HVAC and HL and normal lit gauges.

Also have we determined yet if we HAVE to put LED's in to make everything look good w/out having hot spots? B/C ideally what I want is direct hassle free swap.

Exactly. Can you guarantee that these are very good quality with no light spots and dark spots? Is the glow extremely even throughout the faces?

For now the lighting will stay the same, untill I have more time to work with it. I have alot of new designs, and new products coming out. However I would never leave you guys high and dry. I know where I came from and small sites like this with a small following is what created this ever growing bussiness.

You will have to ask that to customers. All pics I have of the HVAC panels/ Gauges use stock lighting. The way for makes gauges and I make gauges are different. In order to get even lighting for uses shading, something I can not do. However I do not belive that I have uneven lighting. And as with everything, LED Bulbs will only make things better

So do you have to get other bulbs etc, no.

In the end I want the customer to be happy. If your not happy you dont spread the word to bring more customers this way. So we like keeping the customer happy.

In a way you could say overlays, however you will have to remove your stock gauges to install mine.

I was just noticing on the black HVAC that the white on the A's seem to be normal on the lighted picture, but filled in on the non-lighted picture. Is this something that can be remedied?

Also, if I don't have the SVT logo, do I get the V6 logo instead? Thanks.

I will give all the payment details tonight when I close the GP, yes paypal is avail.

If you want the V6 logo I can do that. I think you mean that little line on the letter "A" the one that goes through the middle of it? I dont think I can, but I can try. The process of making black face and white face is completly different.

NOBODY ORDER WITH THAT LINK

I got Mike's info and shopping cart. Something is wrong with the cookie being set by that link, and anything you type will be seen by others.

Please let us know when you resolve this, tyler. Or, we can order by PM/Paypal. But that site is very unsecure.

Working on it right now, Im not sure what happened. You can see other ppls carts however you cant tell whose it is, so it is secure, but something is wrong with the cart checkout.
Im thinking you were logged into a default account I created to test things, and when i sent the link I was logged in. When I logged out and went back to the checkout, it was all blank agian.

Go to www.SH-AutoTrends.com click the CEG GP link, and go from there untill i can provide a direct link to the GP.

Thanks for cleaning that up. Since there was no billing info on your page, there wasn't any real danger - but I did get mike's address/phone.

I've ordered, and anxiously await the parts! When will I get a tracking #?

Thanks for the GB! I've been waiting for someone to make these for a long time.

Muntus, you can't get 160 mph faces and have the gauge read correctly. Unless you have a SVT cluster. Which cluster do you have?

Nice! Just wanted to make sure you ordered the right thing.

In the last Group Buy someone bought the 160 MPH thinking they could slap it on without a new cluster.

r the hvac and hl going to be added to your site for sale? i didnt sign up in time for the gb.

does the black face svt have the redline at 6750 or 6500. i see 6500 on some white faces on your site. was that for the regular v6's? r these powered by anything? or the stock lighting shines thru doing all the work? my indiglos have been dimming alot and i've been thinking that something is wrong with by batt or alt but i think they are fine. would be great if these didnt need a power inverter like indiglos. did u end up getting a hl switch to work with? cuz i've got one too if u still need it

Yes Everything will be added to my website within the next few days. I am super busy right now with this and the new mustang gauges we just introduced.

The redline can be at whatever you want it at. My gauges use stock lighting. I did receive a HL switch. And prepare yourselves for some pictures hopefully this weekend.

One thing, can someone post me a pic of what bulb lights the switch? I received mine without the lighting source. And how the switch looks stock in the car, meaning is there a bezel that covers any of it?

Thanks,
Tyler

yes there is a bezel that covers a pretty good amount of the headlight switch overlay. i have the switch in hand. it looks to use the same bulb as the footwell bulbs (the same one that sits at the bottom of the driver side steering column panel). are those the 194 bulbs?

if u have a hl switch with the actual switch that turns clockwise, measure about 1/4inch away from the actual switch and thats how much is visible once the bezel gets put on, basically maybe 2mm past the headlight symbol

I put in my guages just now... and I was disappointed.

I can't read the Km/h part at night (look like red blobs), which is kinda a big thing here...

So I swapped the stock ones back in. Guess I'll sell the S&H ones on the classifieds or (gulp) Ebay.

At least I got a look at the inside of the cluster, though... plenty of room to add some crazy lighting in there!

EDIT: playing around with my 1W LEDs... now I see why these things need a heat sink! Oh, and my camera couldn't take a pic of 4 of them on... they're that bright!

Oh yeah... I've got mad lighting in there.

It doesn't have anything to do with the lighting... it's just that it's not detailed enough. Like if you tried using a old sharpie to make small numbers/letters instead of a sharp pencil... they come out looking like "blobs."

And I happen to need to be able to read those blobs.

Ok, HVAC is installed. But......it doesn't light up at all like in the pictures Tyler posted. When it is getting dark, they are great. Red glows through nicely, but then totally dark, the whole center of the panel glows red. Kinda cool actually.

My only complaint I guess is that the panel is not cut correctly. The left side of the panel is not long enough and the clear plastic under the HVAC overlay shows at the very edge.

Anything that can be done about this Tyler? Are all of them cut exactly the same way?

It is only off by about 1mm.

Im here Im here, not leaving you guys in the dark, sorry for the long dated response.

Hope everyone had a great Holiday weekend. I know we all sure did! Much needed time off!

Ok, I have received a few emails about gauges not showing up. Im not 100% sure how many from here did not receive there gauges but I need to know, it seems that someone has taken them out of our mailbox, which was packed full. You guys are not the only ones this has happened to. I have a few cusomters with the same problems, I have contacted USPS, as all packages were insured, however it is unclear at this time what will happen. But new gauges are being made. So please email me sales@sh-autotrends.com with the subject Contour GP Gauges not received.

As far as fitment on the HVAC, where is it not fitting? These panels will also be remade and corrected. I thought they were a good fit, however I will remake them if yours do not fit, if anyone has pics that would be great, also email those to me so I can get them corrected on Autocad. Thats the bad thing about no having the car here to test it on.

Any other issues I will reslove within the next few minutes.

Thanks,
Tyler

They can all be remade. The HVAC panels have to be made differently than the guages due to the very low lighting the stock HVAC receives, however I will change things up once agian with some new things we got, and everything will come out perfect!

Agian a pic would be perfect! So I know exactly what to change.

Here you go Tyler. Now that I'm thinking about it, 2 things I hope you can change. One being the fitment on the left side, the other being the red circles under the control knobs. They are just slightly too large and it sneak up from under the knobs and looks a little awkward. Can you just make the circles a tiny bit smaller?

Other than that, these HVAC panels are hot!!! I love it!

Same problem with mine, although I've got the black face/blue lighting. I'm sure you got my e-mail, but I didn't get my headlight switch panel, either. >_>

Other than those issues, they look great!

Also, any chance I could order a white face panel in addition? After seeing CSVT1214's HVAC, I'm kinda wishing I got those. ^_^

This picture pretty much shows what is up:

When the numbers are very small (like the Km/h part), the parts that are lit up combine and form a blob that makes the numbers unreadable, which means I can't use them here.

Last time I checked he had *just* gotten a headlight panel to work up a template from. The HVAC controls were well ahead of the headlight switch in the production line and I presume thats why you received them first.

I would rather "know" why the order was shipped to me incomplete instead of speculating though. Since my CC was charged for the entire amount.

Relax everyone. Custom products take time to get it done right.

Tyler has gone above and beyond compared to some other companies that have done GB for us.

No adhesive on them so use w/e works for you. I use double sided tape, but others have used spray adhesive. W/e you choose, make sure it's clear. Do put anything that will block light output.

Incomplete order or not, give this person more time to respond with an answer before more verbal diarrhea comes out. This is a GB and person who deserve it.

What verbal diarrhea? Why don't you quote where you saw the verbal diarrhea? Maybe you got your order, but I did not. Maybe you got part of your order, but I have yet to receive anything. No gauges and no emails except to say they took my money and shipped the gauges. And apparently I'm not the only one. It's been five weeks since they took my money. How many more weeks do you suggest we wait?

Gentlemen,

I am very sorry. Everything is complete now I am happy to tell you. All of the HVAC panels/ Headlight switches are done. Business is back to normal now. I will be responding to the 200+ (I’m sure some of them are from here) emails I have in my inbox, as well as my PM's here.

I had some personal family health issues that needed to be taken care of.

Everything is back to normal now, and all business will be conducted as normal.

Agian, I am very sorry for my absence.

And Everyones remade orders.

That is because USPS tracking system is pretty much pointless. I have a tracking number from an Amazon order I placed on April 15th, and the tracking info still hasn't shown up yet. I got in April 25th...

I got the guages from the first GB, now I haven't seen anything from the 2nd GB.

I got an email a few weeks ago after he asked who still hasn't received everything saying it was "shipped again," but nothing in the mailbox.

Well I installed the new HVAC panel that was sent to me. Unfortunately it looks worse than the first one.

It was cut correctly this time, and the red circle made smaller but, the material he used or something is totally different.

The red is more pink at night, and the center areas used to glow red with the first one, but now glow white. Not happy so far.

I disagree. I have sent my order back and he told me he was going to refund my money. This may have been a dumb decision but the 1st transaction went through so well so I had a little bit of trust that I would get my $ back. Well He received my returned order on May 24th (have e-mail from him saying he got it) and he said he was going to mail my refund on Friday the 26th.

I still have not received it. I have sent 3-4 e-mails asking about my refund. None have been answered. It's now 17 days after he said my refund was going to be sent. The last e-mail I sent requesting my refund was basically letting him know if I dont hear from him, get a tracking #, or my refund immediately I will do whatever can be done so no one else buys from him again. That being said, the first thing we could all do is go onto E-bay and give him a negative rating. Or since I believe he has his store on there maybe we can file something through E-bay.

All I know is the product I recieved was half the order I ordered and it was made half-assed. So after sending it back he now has my order and my $ that to me classifies his as a scammer.

I agree with both of you... I think he sucks at teh biz, so now he's just scamming most of us.

I recieved the 1st order real quick, and they're cool looking... until you light them up.

Since I revealed that a white face guage ends up having a "halo" sort of light around the number, I realized that I can't use the guages here. Due to the "halo" effect, the Km/h section is very hard to read (all the blobs flow together), which is very bad here where I need Km/h.

That being said... I am hoping I can get a set of Canadian SVT guages sometime. If I can't, I might attempt to get ahold of a set of ST200 guages, non-UK being best (since they use MPH up there, and I'm looking for Km/h).

Maybe getting all of us that have been scammed together and writing to Ebay will get him shut down on there, maybe even banned from Paypal.

He obviously has enough time to drum up some more business. Over on http://www.ffoc.co.uk/ he said he has "been busy packing as Im getting ready to move, Ill pm you right not." That was on Thu Jun 08, 2006 7:43 pm.

I guess he's had similar customer service at Focus Fanatics . Of course, this was 05-05-2006 05:00 AM.

From the S&H AutoTrends website:

Customer service is another well know issue with big companies. We at S&H Auto Trends will never put you off if you call in with a question about your order or a Tech question. If we do not know we will find out the right answer for you.

So when you buy from S&H Auto Trends buy with confidence. You will not be ripped off or promised anything that is not true. And our customer service is like no one else's

Their customer service IS like no one else's.

So we only get good customer service if we call in? LOL. I only bought the HL switch overlay and i've yet to put it in, but by just holding it up to the light i can see it's not gonna be as great as i thought it was. Good thing i have a couple spare HL switches

Can you put something behind the overlay to help make it less transparent. I am not saying it makes this whole issue right, but atleast those that got theirs could make it work rather then returning the item to not get a refund.

Folks if you paid with a credit card or paypal, file a complaint, Paypal favors buyers in claims espically if you paid through paypal with a credit card. They know you could file a charge back with your card company if they do not resolve your problem first hand.

This is rediculous. He has no method of communication just ONE person randomly getting their order out of no where. There are still many people that did not get anything, or did not recieve the entire order but the parts they did recieve were done poorly, or are waiting for a refund (such as myself). This guy cannot be counted on. I have been waiting 3 weeks for my refund and still have not gotten it.

I was just about to buy the whole set for white face and white lights, when I decided to check back on the GB and see how it was going.

Good thing I did.

Man, it almos tpisses me off that this GB went bad, it was such a good start. I hate that. I'm always paraniod of GB's now.

I'm trying to help Scott Hrbacek sell some of his custom gauge faces here. I just saw this stuff after someone informed me about Tyler. Scott evidently got into business with S&H Auto Trends and I'm trying to let everyone know that Scott isn't the person doing this. I'm trying to work it out on here and over on FCO. I'll try and get this worked out, but Scott went off line after work. So I'll try and get ahold of him tomorrow. I'm no representative, just a friend trying to help out a friend.

You might not be able to do the HVAC.

I can't remember when the Mystique dash changed to match the Contour, but if you have the Pre-98 style, won't work.

That looks quite a bit different. If the holes are in the exact same area, that would work. They can be cut any size. Otherwise, list the distance from the exact center of the knobs and they should be easily fixed to fit the Mystique.

You could ask to have them uncut, so you could try to cut them to fit.

If you're worried, just talk to Scott. I ordered from him, and usually got my orders within 2 days, however, I lived in MO at the time, which is where he's from.

slhrbacek@yahoo.com

He's online right now. Usually 7-5 Central.

Yep. Just tell Scott what you want, and he can do about any custom thing you can think of. Just contact him at: slhrbacek@yahoo.com

There are thousands of different combinations, so anything you want, just ask him and he'll try and work with you as best as he can. He could more than likely make your tick marks as lightning bolts. However, I'm not sure on what price adjusting occurs, but there are many different options you can go with. Just tell Scott that you're from CEG and Ben sent you over.

Mike (Porkchop) wanted the Star Wars Tie-fighter symbol to light up at night on the back of his gauges:
http://forums.tccoa.com/showthread.php?t=55426&highlight=gauge+faces
So Scott made the custom design for him:

Does this look like Tyler's merchandise?

These are Scott's gauges that he has designed and created for the past ~4 years. Some of these pictures are 2+ years old. He has at least 750 gauge sets out. If you want to talk about quality or ask about customer service, talk to people who have ordered from Scott in the past. Most of them are over at TCCoA, where Scott started out when he owned a Thunderbird.

Tyler is S&H....Scott is S&H...they are one in the same as far as I and CEG are concerned. They are a business that has stole $ from many people on here. I don't care who's name you put on it S&H STOLE $.

Until I receive a refund, which I highly doubt anyway since Tyler's word and S&H's word does not hold water around here, I will continue to speak the truth and the CEG community will know of the lying and stealing and terrible quality that is associated with this company.

Scott represents S&H....and like I said before, if he is a real business man he would send me my refund.

Those of us that DID get their order (some did not) the product was made terribly, do a simple search on it. Secondly the company said they would re-make them. It turned out the re-made ones (again the people that actually got them) were even worse than the original ones. Lastly, people like myself that wanted a refund and shipped the product back have not received a refund.

Like I said search, it has all been documented. If you want good quality gauges buy from StreetRacerParts.com I have a set of their indiglo's (SVT gauges, HVAC and HL) and could not be happier.

Some items that were made by Tyler were made poorly and people weren't given replacements, some were. Some other people didn't get anything.

However...

As you see above, the products that Scott produces are made with precision and are made to last. If there are any problems, replacements are usually sent within a week. I had a problem with peeling on 1 of the 5 of my old Cougar ones 3 years ago (set 56) and Scott replaced it for free, and I received it within 3 days. Now Scott's production has greatly improved and they look awesome. The ones in my Bronco just look great.

My second set, No. 56 (now owned by dwinthrup on TCCoA):

If Scott really does has good qality products and good service, then he should start his own seperate business. As far as everyone on this board is concerned, no one is doing business w/ S&H.

I can certainly understand why. At this point I would be concerned myself if I didn't deal directly with Scott.

And as it is, I'm wondering why he didn't inform Scott of his whole GP over here.
