Body Shop mistakte
#358454 - 07/24/03 12:28 PM

in my favor!

Picked up my car from having the rear bumper repainted due to a tiny fender bender last month. I go look at the bumper and it looks exactly the same. Then I look at my invoice and see "FRT BUMPER" listed a couple times. Go back in, the office staff is confused, so they go get the owner. He comes in fuming mad. Apparently, the guy that did the work rewrote the estimate, ignoring the estimates from the insurance company and the shop itself, for the front bumper. I guess he saw a couple scratches there and thought that the front was supposed to be done.

The owner cursed up a storm because this guy has made a couple other mistakes recently. He apologized and told me to bring the car back on Monday and they'll do the rear bumper like they were supposed to, and find me something to drive.

Front bumper repainted for free! Yay! It had a couple scratches on it, so it was kinda in need of some paint anyways.

So he completely disregarded the mangled rear bumper because of some scratches on the front?

I wish I could find people that [censored] retarded when I need work done...

Oh crap... you wanted an oil change? We accidentally swapped a 351 into your Focus... sorry...

you ought to offer to pay for the work done on the front bumper.... it was done, you needed it.. they made the mistake, but you ought to offer the owner something for the work on the front of the car.... i would, but then i would want someone to offer me something for my labor also if i made a mistake.....

Why not offer to pay for (and of course get) a respray of the hood, just to keep your karma in the positive.

LOL! Worries me that a guy could be so absent minded and actually do good work. Not one in the same usually.

I've been known to make a mistake or two at work. We replaced a customers system a while back and I got the CPU speed wrong, so the customer got a free upgrade to a 20% faster pair of CPUs.

I sure as heck wasn't going to tell them we had to take him machine down to down grade him back to what was originally in there, after all of the downtime and us taking the machine back to our office.

(We gave them a loaner while I worked the troublesome system.)

So I had to order two more of the faster CPU's to return his system as a replacement for the loaner.

Good work, but I was a bit absent minded then...

The dude ignored two estimates to write his own. They keep them all in their computer, so my name and car were listed already (second was from insurance company, but is in my file there). You'd think he woulda thought to look at the first one before making the "repairs" on his own.

Owner said that this was the second time this week that the guy has screwed up! The insurance company was paying for aftermarket parts on someone else's truck, and the guy ordered and installed GM parts.. Cost the body shop $300 extra that they gotta eat. Not sure that he'll be employed there too much longer as the owner was fuming mad.

Haven't looked closely at the front bumper, not sure if it's good work or not, Todd There were two screws in the bumper from my old front tag and they're still there. I would be tempted to pay if the guy had filled in those holes..
