Horrible track results

Went to the track last night. Marion drag stip in Ohio, bout 40 mins north of columbus. And was pretty let down. I have a KKN intake and a Bosal Catback. And i also have 17" Konig Imagine silvers.
First Run (Ever) ~ Some old pickup that appeard would rape me, loud as fuq did a huge burn out, had slicks. He stalled at the line and racked up an 8.3 sixty foot, still managed a 19.5 at 97 mph. owel, i still won.
Reaction-.7 60-2.5 1/8 et-10.4 1/8 mph-68 1/4 et-16.1 1/4mph-85
Second Run~ Old blue camaro with slicks, did his little burn out thing and made lots of smoke. Which i beat, he got a 2.5 60 with slicks?? this was actually my best run of the night, which is pathetic.camaro finished with a 16.3 at 83. I beat em by .1843. yikes
Reaction-.68 60-2.4 1/8 et-10.3 1/8 mph-67 1/4 et-15.9 1/4mph-85
Third Run~ Against a 02 Gti running what he said was 22 psi tha tappered off to like 12. He rapped me with a 14.7 at 93.
Reaction-.82 60-2.5 1/8 et-10.3 1/8 mph-68 1/4 et-16.0 1/4mph-85
Fourth Run~ This is the saddest and most disturbing run. It was a civic si with a catback, and person in the passenger seat. Civic ran a 15.8 at 86. We had identical reaction times and 60 foot.
Reaction- .88 60-2.5 1/8 et-10.5 1/8 mph-67 1/4 et-16.1 1/4mph-84
My best time was 8 tenths slower than what my car is capable of? I would blame it on the track but seeing that the si ran close to its time with the person in, doesn't allow me to blame the track. It's jus that my car stops pulling, svt's are supposed to trap at 89 or so right? at a 15.1? Either my 17"s are killing me or my mods are killing me, or I cannot drive for [censored]. Any comments would be nice, please dont make fun...

Your 60' isn't very good. It's probably a mix of your wheels and driving. There is the possibility something is wrong with your car as well, but it's most likely the driver for the most part.

i dont know what to tell u man, i just ran my 1995 contour and did 15.5 at 90MPH stock (only stage 2 clutch) i was launching at 4K RPM's so maybe you should try that with your car, i am sure its easy to get the SVT into 14's stock you just got to practice man... try 4 K launches and try to shift gears fast, thats all i can tell u..good luck

Other than the intake, catback and wheels/tires, are you otherwise pure stock?
How many miles on your rig?
Ever completely cleaned your UIMs, as includes the secondaries?
Others might chime in about your 60' and 1/8th times as a reflection of your launch and shifts, and ask about your tire pressures.

Tires that size will hurt ya. Get some 16's, they might not look as puuuurty as the 17's but it will handle better and go faster.

well my car is stock other than the catback intake and rims. i would like to think i was launching fine as i tried a mixture from 3 k bog all the way to a 5k clutch slip. no matter what i tried i couldnt beat a 2.4-2.6 60 foot. just couldnt get the traction. my car has 60k miles on it and i havent peformed any of the cleaning things. could this be the problem? i shift rediculously fast...too fast, i feel bad for my car after every run. as i was racing the civic i saw em fall back every time he shifted and i gained a lil every time i shifted. i am almost possitive something is wrong with my car, once i hit fourth gear it has no pull thanks for the comments, any ideas would be helpful...other than learn to drive of course...could my 17"s be killing me??

also, the fourth gear shift is needed..correct? i know the gear goes to 87 supposedly, but i was about to redline at 84ish...i shifted into fourth every time...can a run be done without shifting into fourth? what does third actually go to? this could be the reason my trap is low...thanx ya

What elevation is the track at? How about temperature and humidity? This can make a big difference in time and trap speeds. Your wheels are probably not helping much either. I know putting my 16s back on makes a big difference.
OT: I trapped 69-72mph with just an exhaust at a 1000 foot elevation.

You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!
I ALREADY apologize... I shouldn't have been so provoking. You may truly be that fast. I apologize, sincerely. I don't need to point out the blatant irregularities in the things you say.. the rest of CEG is smart enough to see it for theirselves.
Now... let's hope you have the means to follow through. 2.5 60's DON'T equal a 15.5 at 90 miles an hour!!!!
I, honestly, don't see how you can keep up with SRT4's (EVEN TILL 60, so don't bother with that retort), yet EXPECT a 16 second slip, then flip RIGHT BACK to "I'm a good driver"..
WAY too wishy-washy for me, and the numbers just don't add up.
I REALLY hope you CAN prove it.. (without a fake slip, etc, etc..) I would be thoroughly surprised if you did.

Granted a lot of srt4 kids don't know how to drive ... i.e. that one ran a 14.6 NOT GOOD. I wouldn't be surprised if they messed up in another race and did even worse. I do think something is up with the 15.5 @ 90 maybe downhill track? bad measuring devices? who knows.....

Duh, don't you understand Ray. He also gets 2.5 60's with his contour... but his super secret NOS fogger system with his motec exhaust gives him that extra boost after mid second gear which rockets him a full half second beyond all other SE's!!!!!!

What's wrong with his 1/4 mile time?
And I've had a part time job for a while and I could afford more than a measly nitrous system. This is living at home, though if I didn't live at home I wouldn't be working just a part time job, wait actually starting monday I am working a full time and a part time job...... eh nevermind.

The thing that is wrong with his time is it does not make sense. To run a 15.5 in an SVT even, you still have to have a 2.3 60'. It is said that for every .1o sec of a 60' is .2 sec added to your ET. So a SVT with a 2.2 60' will run a 15.3-15.4 depending on if he doesnt mess up his 2 to 3 and 3 to 4 shifts. but as your 60' gets worse (i.e. 2.3-2.4-2.5) your ET gets alot bigger (i.e. 15.6-15.8-16) and so on. His time is pretty much impossible to pull off unless he 1: [censored] foots off the line (with a much more HP car) 2: catches up due to more HP 3: then slams on the gas at the 1320' mark to drop his Trap speed to 90 mph.
that is the only explaination as to how he can get that 60' foot and still yeild a 15.5 at the track.

I got it, Kremit!!!
Nothing wrong with an SVT pulling a LOWER than usual time.. (easily doable...)
There is something wrong with the 15.5 from a STOCK (standard) v6...

Yeah i ran 15.4 in the middle of the [censored] summer, in 90 degree weather, with a bad clutch and a [censored] 3rd gear. i would say that is pretty good for a car that runs 15.3 stock in perfect condition. Plus i have 5 less HP and TRQ. mine is early 98 model.
Sorry K, i didnt see him rag on my post. but honestly, alot of SVT drivers cant hit the 15.3 mark

I just found that my rims (konig imagine silvers) weigh in at 23 pounds a piece, then when I consider the outside weight inertia and heavier tire, this could completely be killing my times...anyone know what the stock svt rims weigh in at? thanx ya

Wow I didn't realize there was such a weight difference between my SVT Focus wheels and my stock E1s. I guess the Bridgestone S-03s don't help either. There about a 6 pound difference between the two wheels. And I wondered why this thing didn't pull 3rd gear like it used to.
I say go back the track with your stock wheels and see what happens.
