Dyno'd on the Juice
#1297523 - 08/10/06 02:30 PM

75 Shot.
Clutch was slipping BAD so we had to bump up a gear on the dyno.

What gear were you pulling in initially? What gear did you go to? My guess is, you went from 3rd to 4th, where 4th SHOULD be used anyway. I can't see pulling in 5th gear(143mph+), especially on nitrous.

Are these Mustang numbers corrected to be like Dynojet numbers like most operators do now or just SAE corrected?

Those #'s are not corrected to match Dynojet

mucho clutch slippage when i was on the juice, with a 100 shot. if you pull in 4th it actually slipped more for me. i just hit the juice at 5000 instead of 4000 in third and it slipped alot less. either way the best idea is to put a good clutch in it and a 100 shot, so u can be around 300

nice though

Yea, ill see how long this clutch will last before switching it. If i get a Spec Stage 1 ill probably bump the shot to a 90.

well mine on a 100 shot put the torque up to 260 when slipping, thats pretty much maxing out the rating of the stage 1. i would recommend the stage3, it's perfectly drivable, and holds up to 440.

oh yeah he does, his sheet spikes when he hits the juice too like mine did. eventually the clutch grabs and pulls but the pull isnt as steady and you in essence dont get the same "run at the rollers" that you would if it didnt slip. he's puttin down more than that for sure.

specclutch.com rates it at 270. I've hit 289+wtq with no slipping. These clutches are definitely underrated.
The stock SVT clutch, assuming it doesn't have a bunch of miles, has also proven to be a good performer. Warmonger was running the stock SVT clutch I believe, on his first turbo setup.

Where is the BS flag when you need it? Running the juice in 4th will not cause any bogging. If you don't have a window switch, then it's not safe on the street either. Unless you have a ghetto-rigged nitrous setup, it's going to perform on the dyno, the same as it would on the street.

yeah. turbos have more constant pull. nitrous (along with the pull) makes your car rev FAST! my first gear lasts a second if that. and yeah the hit is insane! itll be even better when i get the 12" solenoid to nozzle lines. (compared to the 2 footers) of course its harder on the engine but as my daily driver it evens out because i'm not putting constant stress on the motor like a boosted car. also the gas mileage is still good

if you are going to spring zing next year i bet we can work something out i have never been in a turboed contour either. by that time i plan on having a dual stage plate system like i have been talking about, on a 150 or 200 shot depending on how it runs/revs. im not sure what the most nitrous anybody has put on a contour is but i wanna be the one to make a car run with the most nitrous and have it last quite a while. we'll see what happens, it could be another 5 minute display of power and detonation. only time will tell haha

I'd say its about like driving your car at 3500 rpm part throttle, then just slamming the gas. Only it does that whenever you mash the pedal with nitrous even at 2000 rpm. still, if he's running nitrous at that high of a shot where he equals your power and drawing on a 10lb bottle all you have to do is match him for about 6-7 pulls and then he'll be back to 165 wHP and you'll still be at 350-400. lol
That's when you wave goodbye. Of course a good racer won't let himself run short on the bottle.

That's why i like to take two bottles when i go to the track. lol

i have 3 yep the bottle sux. and on the 100 shot my car will break loose at about 40 in second. if that gives u any idea of how hard it hits. really though, dual stage will be better. more traction, less of a sudden burst on the internals. warmonger has the right idea probably though

Its funny, but the 3L turbo with only 8psi will rip 1st,2nd, and sometimes 3rd loose. With over 10psi it will rip 3rd if you aren't carefull.

I do miss the bottles. And the car. But the whining noise is a great way to replace it...
