how is fuel economy for 'budget' 3L's?
#1312270 - 09/04/06 11:22 PM

For those who've invested in more FORD POWER , how has your fuel economy changed on average as compared to (I assume most of you had SVT 2.5s) the 2.5 duratec? I mean just a straight swap (or hybrid), because a buddy of mine with a 3L in his SVT, really doesn't complain at all,

23 overall? Do you winter drive at all? I mean 23 is not bad, but it's better than some are getting with their stock 2.5s :d

I don't know my average, but on a recent trip from SF bay to Utah, I got 30.2 mpg with the ac on going from the bay to Lovelock, NV.

Non-SVT btw.

I get around 23-26 depending on my cruising speed on the freeway. Off the freeway I get very bad mileage.

I get about 18-26 in my Cougar. That's about the same as all the 3L SVT's I built.

23 mpg mixed...15mpg when I'm on PCP...32mpg straight highway.

I have a zetec FD so on the highway I am usually going about 75mph and my revs are around 2500ish RPM.

Hope this helps.
