There was a recall on some of the zetec 98 water pumps. Mine went at 40k if your over that I'm sure it will be ok, they make a wierd hollowing noise when they do go.
Some of them the pump is under the timing cover, mine is a pre 98 and it's not under the cover. It's off to the right of the cover, and can be removed without doing a timing job. It's a small space to get into but if you remove the pass. motor mount it's not too bad (you need to support the engine)
