Seat bolsters: can't get 'em off

I want to replace the trunk lid lift supports on my '97 Mystique. I need to remove the outer rear seat back extensions to do so.

My service manual says to flip the seat backs forward, then push in on the bolster and lift up. I absolutely cannot get them to disengage. What could I be doing wrong?

They are laughing at me and I am getting angry.

You don't need to remove anything to replace the trunk struts.

If you still decide to take the bolsters off, just put a pry bar under the bolster by the lowest clip. That will pop the bottom one loose and then just push the entire thing up.

I'll try it thru the trunk first. Accessing it thru the cabin will be plan B.
