I have a 1999 Svt contour. The rear hub was taken off and now I am trying to replace it and the new assembly will not fit on easily. I have gotten 4 new hub assemblies from Kragen and 1 from Auto Zone. They both will not fit. Is the rear hub assemby suppose to be pressed in? I have Koni adjustable shocks.

replaced mine (2K) about a year back...they were not a slide on effort. Both sides required some patience and finesse but did go on. Think I may have cleaned up the mating surfaces up with some fine grit emory cloth and greased them up but I don't remember all the details.

I replaced the ones on my old 2000 SVT back in April or May and they just slide off and slide on. Got them from Autozone.

the koni's run tight on the bottom where they mount. You could either take some emery to the bottom of the strut of use a flat blade chisel and split the knuckle open just a little bit.

hold on, are we talking about the hub itself, or the knuckle? the hub is the just the part that has the bearing and spins, the wheel bolts to it. the knuckle is the piece cast iron piece that the hub bolts to as well as the strut goes into.

Well I didnt know if Koni struts used a different knuckle. So it looks like some (Hub Assembly) slide off and some slide right on.

yeah, the knuckles are all the same where the strut goes into it.

the hub should slide off easily and the new one should slide on pretty easily as well. it should be a tight fit though, if it doesnt just slide on some light taps with a dead blow hammer (rubber mallet would probably work as well) around the center of the hub should seat it all the way. just dont go crazy with the hammer as you dont want to destroy the bearing.

Thank you all I got it on with fine grit emory cloth and it went right on. I hope it was the left side.
