If you are titling and registering your vehicle for the first time in Virginia in an NVTA locality and paid an NVTA fee equal to 1% of the vehicle sales price or NADA trade-in value, there is was a Supreme Court ruling stating that this is null and void because NVTA does not have the authority to collect taxes.
Also, the following taxes collected by NVTA are null -
•Congestion Relief Fee (Grantor’s Tax)
•Motor Vehicle Rental Tax
•Transient Occupancy Tax
•Safety Inspection Fee
•Sales and Use Tax on Auto Repairs
•Regional Registration Fee
•Initial Vehicle Registration Fee
