Engine Compartment Clean Up?

What are the products you use? I was trying to use some cheap shop rags from the Auto store, and some no name stuff, but the shop rags weren't the best. I'm able to get the the hoses, and the very top of the valve covers cleaned up, but I am having a harder time getting in between each tower where the plug wires are. What do you all recommend?
 
i just used a degresser by hand, no water. took 6 hours, but nothing got wet. i had nothing better to do anyway.
