Coil replacement

So it's come time to change my coil and wires(mild shuttering at 1500 to 2000 rpm on light throttle application) and I was wondering what coil and wires I should get. Or get help on the issue, but i'm pretty sure it's the coil being that it's original.

I guess you can consider this a troubleshooting topic so can a mod move this please.

I'd do plugs and wires before touching the coil simply because of price.

actually the plugs were done about 1500 kms ago lol took them out a week ago and aside from oil on them(fixed the gasket temporarily) they were fine

Then do the wires pronto. I had a slight hesitation and swapping the wires cleared it right up.

got some very good wires at the junk yard today and i'm going to test them on my way to work, on a related topic,no more oil in the spark plug galley,thanks to my liquid gasket that is lol

Liquid gasket?

Why wouldn't you just pick up the appropriate RUBBER gasket at the auto parts store? It's like $12. :shrug:

The manual might spec both the rubber gasket and some permatex on the corners.

at least on a pre98 the gasket is installed dry.

i'm a little short on cash right now so it'll have to do, i might go to the junk yard to get a temp one tho

Get a valve cover gasket from a junk yard? :help:

it'll have to do, canadian tire wants like 40 for one brand new

at least on a pre98 the gasket is installed dry.

I installed my valve cover gasket dry. Never leaked.:shrug:
