Prepping center console for paint?

I have only one concern.....finish. Will it have the correct amount of gloss to match exact....

I dont think it will ever match EXACT. We are talking about new paint vs paint thats been in an enviornment as harsh as a car interior can be. Chemicals, dirt, heat, cold, etc etc etc all have an effect on the factory shade.

Well, I did post about this back in the old thread. Seemed as though no one cared. Oh well, past is past.

As far as finish, it looks pretty damn close. I f'ed up my a-pillar covers and had to replace it with the tan one from my 95 SE. I'll see if I can get some pics of it tonight and post them. The finish is mostly flat with just a hint of gloss to it.

IIRC it was expensive for the two cans I bought. I think I paid like $25 each for 12 or 15 oz cans. I felt it was worth it b/c nobody could find it anywhere else.

you guys would be surprised at how well it actually matches. you wouldnt be able to tell the difference between it and the console i took out! you've gotta make sure you paint it right though. if you put too many coats on, it gets dark fast. i had AWESOME sucess with keeping the nozzle 10-12 inches from teh surface, using only one coat, and it came out great. it doesnt scratch off either. of course i havent tried too hard hah ;)

and sorry about the holdup tony, USPS sucks and wont ship hazmats :( and yeah, sorry about the little amount, but i did warn you that it was barely enough haha

Definitely like to see pics of factory interior parts against painted parts. Like Josh said, the finish is very important.

Eagerly awaiting pictures of stock panels next to painted parts.

Go to a local paint specialist and they can mix your color and blend it for plastics and put it in an aresol can for you for about 18 - 22 bux per can.
