I had a CEL (P0175) and it went away when my mechanic :reset the long term fuel trim."

What does this mean? Is there a chance that this really took care of the problem?

Yeah, he's blowing smoke up your tailpipe... He didn't fix anything. The CEL will be back within a couple of days.

The computer will continue to try to get the mixture back into balance until either it's happy or it gives up and sets a fault code. In your case, it's detecting that the mixture is too rich, so it's leaned out the mixture settings as far as possibl but still isn't happy.

Common causes are leaky injectors or overly high fuel pressure. Since you're getting the fault only on bank 2, I'd suspect an injector fault rather than the fuel pressure.
