2000 6cyl Pinging Under Load

I get this when I accelerate from stop--load on engine.
What are the most likely causes--need to work back.
Have read about knock sensors. Does the 2000 6 cyl have them?

Yes, but try putting in 89 octane and see if it helps.

Higher Octane--even the highest might help a little but not very much. Still pings

If you have picked up some bad ethanol fuel with water in it, can ping bad too, at least till runs the water out of it.

Is your cold air tube intact, have seen broken tube make ping from too hot air entering motor. The knock sensor should be taking care of that though. Make sure sensor wiring is still plugged into sensor.

Has been doing the pinging for a while so gas is not an issue.

what octane gas are you running?

is knock sensor plugged in?

any lean codes?

No CEL codes.

Octane of gas makes no difference.

I'll have the mechanic check to see if the knock sensor is plugged in.
