As some of you may know, I've decided to put my SVT up for sale in the classifieds. Shortly after, I received a PM by a gentleman who calls himself "Bret." His username on CEG is Bloostd. He expressed interest in purchasing the car, and asked for some more pictures. I sent him quite a few interior shots, and told him a little more about the car. He seemed happy with my honesty, when he sent me this PM:

"i really appreciate your honesty.
i am seriously interested. i usually dont say this much but there isnt any point in buying a new car IMO- the price is reasonable... but i understand hard work into a car. reason being ive done all those things and then some to my SHO... including paint-

if you could please send me some more pictures via email. and if you have any videos of it... it would be welcomed... thanks a bunch

I thought I'd bait him, so I replied with:

"Bret,
Basically, all of the pictures you see is what I have on my computer. I might be able to find a few more. I do have some small video of the car, both on the street and on the dyno. I'll see if I can't get those to you through email. What's your email address?
And nice SHO! Did you do all of the painting and powdercoating yourself? And a 13.3 is a pretty quick time. I've had 2 SHO's, both red 93's. One ATX and one MTX. Do you still have the SHO?

Mark"

Here was his response:

"Sho is blown up sitting in michigan, i ended up pulling the block again putting in 8.5:1 weisco in it... putting a t55- turbonetics ball bearing turbo FMIC all that stuff, putting out 402 @ the wheels with 8 psi and 436 FWTQ. i got ballsy racing a new z06 and squirted aswell... so spun a main rod. damaged the crank- sheared itl.
Yes i did the paint work. i had my buddy do the powdercoat for me. but i powdercoated everything... subframe... literally almost everything i could.

email is- ***************

Thanks alot,

I'm still interested in the car

-Bret"

Now, this is where it gets good. Here is the PM I just sent him. Not even our friend Bret knows that I'm onto him. Read on, and enjoy:

"Bret,
I was just curious if you realized that I am from Indiana. And not just Indiana, but Fort Wayne, Indiana. Now I'm sure you thought I'd fall for your scam, but it's not working. That SHO belongs to Chuck Curtis, a good friend of mine. That is an Indiana license plate, and a plate that I am very familiar with, as I've attended several car shows with Chuck. Now, I'm sure he's not going to be very happy when he hears that some guy from California is posing as the owner of his car. As a matter of fact, that is Chuck in one of the pictures in that link. That picture of the SHO, fully stripped down and ready for paint, was taken in the old Dimension Ford West building here in Fort Wayne, Indiana. How would I know? Because I used to work there, and again, I am good friends with Chuck. The car was painted in the Dimension Ford West paint booth. Chuck also had all of his powdercoating done by a gentleman here in Fort Wayne. Again, how would I know? Because I was with Chuck when he received quite a few of those parts, and was installing them. Another funny thing, is that I was at the track the night Chuck ran that 13.3 pass. Now Bret, I'm sure you wouldn't be asking me for tons of pictures of my car, so you can pass it off as your own, would you? Trust me, I know a lot more about that particular SHO that you'll ever know. Now please, remove yourself from this website, as this kind of behavior is not welcome here. If you've read this far Bret, you probably feel like a real idiot, and I hope you do. Good luck with your pathetic attempts of internet scamming. Next time, you might want to do a little bit of research.

Mark"

Now hopefully this sends a message out to all of you internet scamming idiots, who try to take credit for other people's hard work. "Bret" better hope I don't find out, that he's using my pictures to create another internet scam. It won't take me long to find a lot of information on our friend "Bret Jamison," especially if that's his real name, and if he really is in the USAF like one of his PM signatures states. Just thought I would share what I've encountered on this site, and hopefully nobody else falls for it.

Man, i love catching people in the act like this. Btw, Chuck has my car right now replacing a rear wheel bearing. He's also replaced all 4 of my wiring harnesses under recall. And yes, Ive ridden in his SHO as well seen it at a few car shows. This guy is an idiot. Good job Mark!

Whether he's seriously interested in buying my CSVT, or yours for that matter, I'll never know. I'm done dealing with him.

What was that CEG'ers name who posted about his fiance dying and other such lies?
This guy smells all of that kid for sure.
asshat

And who picks a SHO of all cars to brag about owning? Granted, Chuck's SHO is immaculate, I think I'd still pick something a little bit more modern/cool to e-brag about. I've had 2 SHO's, and wouldn't brag about either of them. :blackeye:

Mark

You quit too early. You shoulda got his address to send a CD of pix to or sup'm. That way, if he does scam, you know where he lives - or at least where he picks up his mail.

did he happen to give you any more info about where he is stationed at? Or even better, and e-mail anding with .af.mil? If he did, please let me know as I am AF myself. I'm sure that his commander would like to know what their members are doing when it doesn't bring a good name to the AF or his squadron. Believe me, commanders take this kind of stuff seriously. Please, please let me know.

Thank you for making our site safer, I know it's not much to write a reply, but we all appreciate it. I try to help out as much as I can to others, but if we all work together to thwart crap like this, this site will continue it's excellence.

Thank you again for putting that scammer down where he belongs!

Peace!

Mark, you are a gangster. On the other hand, I can't believe you are selling your car. I have thought of doing the same, but I just can't. I'm afraid the Contour will haunt me at night if I do.

Hello good sir,

I am was interestd in the purple escort "Pre98". Please send available photographias for the purple escort "pre98".

I was pleased to doing business for you.

  btw Swift one, Mark!

Yeah, why lie about owning a car that you don't? I mean, who are you trying to impress? And then to get caught doing it, oh man, what a loser.

i see you caught him lying about the car he had....but i'm not quite sure what the scam was/is?

I'm thinking the scam is he knows the car is for sale, so if he can get enough pictures of it, he can post it for sale in other online classified ads. Get paid from a buyer, and then run with the money, while the buyer just gets pics of Mark's car. very sucky
