What have people mistaken your svt for?

I'm not old enough to remember when the Edsel was a current model or when Hogan's Heroes was on the air, but I've heard of them. The hungry throng has little knowledge of culture outside of their own little world.

My name's T.J., and I'm an elitist jerk.

I was cruising the other night with a few buddies, I stopped at a stop light with my windows down and all i could hear was, "come on Taurus smoke the tires" like 8 times from a nearby parking lot.

No i didnt smoke the tires before someone yells "street racer" lol

someone on a local forum mentioned seeing a turbo'd SHO at a local car show recently. I immediately knew it was brapple's turbo SE :blackeye::laugh:

funny you say that. I ran across a guy last night that said he is performing a 5 spd swap on his V8 SHO and then adding a turbo ...

what local forum btw?

I was at autozone last summer and one of the employees goes "nice Kia! that thing got a turbo?" I tell him it is in fact a ford and then he tries for a "oh, escort... nice" he then was close to arguing with me that ford never made an svt contour. At the same autozone another charicter tried to tell me bosch products only work in german cars:nonono:. autozone FTL

I hate to go OT, but I have to reply to this.

I frequent all the local parts stores -- Both O'reilly's, Napa, CQ once in a while, both Advance Auto's, and 2 or 3 in a neighboring city too. Never ran into a jerk or an idiot once.
However, all the A'zone's aparently require every store to have either an idiot, a jerk, or both on staff at all times.
I avoid AZ unless I absolutely HAVE to buy something there no one else carries (Like ATX fluid for my Mitsu).
I would really like to use their rewards program, but I just can't stand them.

Oh, and FWIW, my car never gets mistaken for anything because nobody cares to comment.
My old '88 Turbo Coupe got comments regularly though -- even when it was on its last leg and looking like it belonged in a JY :D

Used to be one of those in the salvage yard I went to a lot in Oakes, ND. Had all the trim intact, original red/white paint, kinda shady interior, the original motor was blown but it still had an original trans and rear end.

The guy that owned it before it went to the salvage yard put a different motor in it, busted out all the glass and used it as a derby car.

>MASSIVELY EPIC FAIL

haha my 88 XR4Ti got some nice comments when I went to autozone for parts. I'm glad I didn't have to explain why I was saying Merkur and not Mercury.
