ok so while cruising on the highway my oil pressure as read at the remote oil filter sits right at the 65 psi that it should be from the factory. Now when I roll into the throttle then let off I see the oil pressure raise. While in boost the oil pressure doesn't change. Not sure if there is an issue or not ... any thoughts?

Oil preasure should be RPM dependant (all other variables held constant).

So, I would say that as long as it increases, and does so at a reasonalbe interval, all should be well. I don't believe boost would have any effect on oil preassure as the oil journals are all in very tight spots. ie between the cam jounal and cam shaft.

Anyone else?

yes the oil pressure will increase with increased rpm, to a point. after ~2.5 krpm the oil pressure holds steady while cruising on the highway. Then when I close the throttle after running in boost the oil pressure will increase as I slow back down ... then it will come back to what it is suppose to be.

i'd say all is well brian. mine does the same. when warmed up, it sits at about 20psi @ idle. 3.5k and up it rises to about 80 i think. never noticed what it is in boost tho, as that is the guage i glance at the least.

I suppose its ok. just seems really odd to me that for alittle the oil pressure would be increasing when the rpms are decreasing.

what oil drain are you running? the copper line to rubber hose that came with the kit? I want to completely upgrade to -10AN but I don't think I can retap the block while its in the car for the 1/2" fitting. I suppose I could move it to the oil pan but would rather not.

otherwise the car ran great for the hour drive to get it home

you have time to look at the gauge under boost:crazy: sigh wish I had boost:drool::cry:

yeah I have a few guages that I look at when driving the car.

holy crap brian:shocked:! thats a lotta guages! wow. i have mine tapped to the block. i dont have the blue hose and copper line that came with the kit any longer. the headers burned it up. lol. i'm using a stainless steel braided line. sorta like the ones that come with brake kits. no leaks again:).

My rubber oil drain line is in a thermal sleeve to help protect it from the headers.

How is the steel braided line working foe you? I was think of going that way also.

Mine is exactly the same:cool:

I don't think mine raises after coming out of boost so that sounds a bit odd. I'll watch the gauge the next time I'm boosting.

I run about 15psi (reading head port near EGR) when warm and it seems to go up with rpms and then drop when ever I lift.

You know it just dawned on me, but my old Dodge Shelby Daytona and my Escort would do the same thing. I never really figured out why, I just figured it was just one of those things boosted cars did.

I have one somewhere around here for you, I won't be using it.

I can has?

Well all oil pump systems have a pressure relief bypass valve when they hit max pressure and they are pressure regulated anyway. There is such a thing as too much oil pressure. Yours probably hits the max pressure and is being regulated at that point.
Also, the oil pressure is not a sealed system, it is a system of controlled leaks in order to lubricate. Pressure will not be the same in all parts and therefore where you measure it at makes a big deal.

So both you and BAD_SVT have the block tapped rather than the pan? Hmmmm.
