Tire Size?

Summer tires, winter tires, or all-seasons? If you're talking summer tires, go 225. If you're talking winter tires, the skinnier the better.

Well, if those are my only choices, I vote for the taller 205/55-16 that fills up the wheel wells. Otherwise, definitely 225/50-16.

Thanks guys, I may be buying tires tomorrow for a spare set of EOs as I have a bent Motegi ff5 17" Hyper Black that I can't seem to find a replacement for...

I took your not being able to find any as a challenge and there are NONE nationwide on Craigslist. Unbelieveable! You prob. could get the one wheel repaired though.

205/55-16 is only 5.25 millimeters taller than a 215/50-16 and only .25 millimeters taller than a 225/50-16. He wouldnt notice the difference.

Every chart I have looked at show the same diameter for 205/55R16 as they do for 225/50R16. That said, those dimensions are with optimal wheel widths. The stock E0 and E1 wheel is slightly narrower than optimal for the 225/50R16, making the tire ever so slightly taller.

Yeah the charts wouldnt really differentiate for a quarter of a millimeter. When you get to measurements that small you pretty much gotta figure they are the same size. I personally would run with the 225/50R16 anyways cause they are gonna be more common in a tire shop, which is always a big concern for me considering I live in south dakota and I regularly travel to middle of nowhere north dakota.

O rly? Have you ever seen an SVT with 215/50-16 next to one with 225/50-16? The difference is VERY noticeable. Same thing with 215/45-17 next to 225/45-17. HUGE difference out of those few extra mm. I've owned 205/55-16, 215/50-16, 225/50-16, 215/45-17, 225/45/17, and 225/35-19 and had them all on these cars.

I should have clarified... he wouldnt notice the difference between the 205/55-16 since the difference in height is only 5 millimeters. IDK why you would.

Its possible to notice the difference between a 215/50 and a 225/50 only because the rim is to narrow and it makes the tire a little more than 5 millimeters taller. But not likely.

But there is still barely any difference. If you noticed a difference then its likely mostly a placebo effect or an optical illusion. You can lose a couple millimeters of tread on a tire before replacing it even. you are aware that 5 millimeters is only 2/10ths of an inch right? Most people recommend replacing your tires when you have 2/32nds of tread left, thats about 1 and a half milimeters. Now I had done tires for a LOT of years, but I cant tell the difference between 6/32nds of tread on my tire and 2/32nds of tread on my tire from across the street. Thats a 3 millimeter difference in case you are counting.

Anyways, I am not trying to come down on you, I am just saying its a fact.

In any case I am still with you on your recommendations, 1 cause they are stock size or equivalent, and 2 because you are more likely to find those sizes on hand at a tire dealer.
