Want To Take Down The Cobalt Ss

The SS 4-door Cobalt is not SC'd. The 2dr is SC'd.

The SS handles very well! It is very qucik on a road course and has good brakes.

Stock SS vs Stock Mustang GT on VIR - The SS wins!

SS S/C models are all coupes, with 5spd manual, 205HP 2.0L SC...
SS (non-S/C) come in 4dr and coupe, with auto or 5spd, 173HP 2.4L NA...

We've seen the S/C ones dyno well above 205 at the wheels. They are underrated by GM big time. Some put down over 220, stock! As impressive as they appear, they still seem like only a slight step above the rattlebox they replaced.

i agree but its a huge improvement over a calvalier u get beat by a cav its sad u get beat by the ss s'c its suppose to happen lose by very little u should be very proud unless ur running for pinks then it sucks either way

I don't doubt that some people really like it, but I don't see any massive consensus online pointing to it as one of the best handling fwd cars. I've read quite a few reviews. While some people really like its handling, the rear suspension gets criticism as does the steering feel which I've read as numb from more than a few sources.

The numbers don't lie. I don't care how it felt to somebody online or in a magazine. If it goes faster round the turns, then it goes faster round the turns despite some guy not liking how it feels. My Escort kicked butt in its autox class but felt as sloppy as an escort in Bangkok's red light district. Didn't matter that the 15 year old steering was basically non-existent during some manaveurs, it was faster.

Giving you the benefit of the doubt, I reread what was posted. Stock SVT was never mentioned. They mentioned the SVT, but didn't say it was to be stock. You turned it to stock for stock. So, you can "stfu."
 
it kinda sucks the all the new cars have the power/ boost to get the job done better. but for an svt back in 98-2000 they were fast

My response was in response to his post AND ONLY HIS POST. He didn't specify modified or what. He said contours handle very well and would beat a cobalt ss in handling. I said stock vs. stock just for pure clarification so some IDIOT like you wouldn't pop in and say I'm wrong because their contour with $20k in mods will out handle a cobalt ss any day.

Really now, stfu. Never respond to any post I make ever again.

ok u three this wasnt started so u can fight and stuff it was to discus if a contour could handle and beat a ss sc but apprently you guys take things too seriously
 
i beat my buddy in his colbalt ss.. by a few car lengths.. he had a bad launch, driver error counts in a race.. just my .02 cents.

Can you atleast attribute to anything REMOTELY relatedly to the topic at all? That is such a typical response from someone that should have STFU a long time ago (it was only advice of course, but you didn't have to take it and you didn't and that's cool, you showed your true colors about KNOWING NOTHING). Please take it now and save face. You probably know little and shouldn't be involved with any topic at all yet.

And to the couple guys talking about the response. Mine was simple. Racing is not limited to drag racing and stock for stock or mod vs. mod a contour will not out handle a cobalt ss. Just giving advice. I don't care if you lose just a race, some money, or your car.

And to the last poster (as far as when I typed this) yes a 6 second car can lose to an 18 second car. There is more to racing than what SHOULD happen. But as far as this topic is concerned, I believe it's related to vehicle's performance rather than drivers'.
 
You're magazine racing. There's no point to any of your posts. If you own one/have driven one, then sure...you have the right to fanboy the SS. Otherwise, anything you have to say is simply an authors/articles opinion of a car.

For being such a seasoned member of this forum, I'm surprised you're so quick to jump on someones nuts for a simple altercation. The first post I made in this thread was not one that required a little pubescent response like you provided. You're showing your ignorance by showing the "I'm right, you're wrong" face. Anyone that posted anything negative about the SS, you seemingly had to make a point to try and prove them wrong.
