Well guys, its official. Here is the latest email...
Bill,

There were a few technological issues to resolve, but we have the kinks
worked out and we have a cost estimate. Based on a run of 10, we can do
them for $195 each. We would plan on 34mm primary and 37mm secondary unless
you tell us otherwise. Since we do not have a stockpile of Contour LIMs, we
would need to make these in batches. Customers would send in an aeembled
LIM, we would disassemble, bore, and reassemble with custom larger butterfly
plates. It would probably take 2-3 weeks from the time people send in the
old LIM until they receive the bored out models back. It looks like we can
do both vacuum style and mechanical style castings on the same tooling, so
that does not make a difference. We may be able to do them in a batch of 5
if you cannot get 10 people at a time, but the price would be higher.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks

Mike

good news!!!!!

Now do I take the car to storage early and pull the LIM, send my UIM to Extrude Hone and wait till spring.....HMMMMMM

I have some thinking to do!

Good work on getting this together/set up

I've got to figure out the LIM juggling to keep one on my car at all times, but I'm definitely in.

Hmmmm. I don't know man. If they can do ANY LIM to the Sho-Shop specs, I can go down to LKQ and get a whole stock V6 intake for $25. That SVT badge on the LIM isn't worth an extra $100 to me.

Junkyards are selling these things for like 40 dollars guys.

Go to car-parts.com to find junkyards in your city/state.

My only concern is these things going to be tapered to match the heads?

Mike... do you know if they'll accept LIM's that have already been worked? I'm guessing they would... but not sure if it'll mess with their tooling. My entrance and exits are port matched to the UIM and heads.

Bill thanks for getting this together. Count me in at the $195 price and lets get a list going guys.

they would have to be, or the purpose is almost defeated.
I would have to disagree with that one. Simply boring a hole, and tapering one, are typically two entirely different worlds. I would expect the price to be higher if the holes were tapered.

Just to clarify, is this an effective mod for a stock 2.5...is the top end gain worth the marginal low end sacrifice?

Another email...

Bill,

I tried to post on CEG, but it is still not letting me post even though I
have been through the trial period of 14 days. I saw the other question on
the different style of LIMs, and if we can get a core to look at, we can
verify whether or not we can use the same tooling. Right now we have your
SVT LIM and another style Matt got, but I don't know if it covers all the
styles people may want.

Let us know how you want to proceed (we can set up a group buy on SHO Source
if you want.

Thanks

Mike
