Custom 18" system *need amp recommendation*

Have a nice custom set up courtsey of Brian M here on the forums. Have a 18" JL Audio W6 and a old orion 2250 powering it. Long story short, the amp is toast and need to replace it. I want to replace it with a Memphis 1000D but would also like to see if there were any other decent options that don't cost $500?

what exactly is wrong with the orion? Maybe send it to get repaired? cheaper and will look better as it will still match the setup.

id have the orion repaired, your system will look goofy if your amps dont match.

I dont want to spend 180 to get it repaired to have somthing else break on it later down the road. It's an old amp and I'm ready to move on.

the sub is only 500wrms, why would you want a 1100wrms amp?

I saw working, used ones on ebay ranging from $300-600. I figure $150 might be possible on ebay. It still powers on so it's not totally fried. idk pm me if your interested!

it depends on if that sub is DVC or single, I know its 500wrms but that sabout all I know, If it IS DVC then that amp will work perfect

its dual 6 ohm, which can be wired to 3 ohm so it will see probably 400w out of that 500.

He said he doesn't want to spend over 500... I think a JL 500/1 is out of the question unless he buys used.

450 rms at 4 ohms and 800 rms at 2 ohms.

Should be right about 600 watts at 3 ohms. Just don't crank the gain real high.

Only 170$ as well.

power acoustik amps are like MA amps, they don't make power till 16v

I must have looke don the wrong site, the rest we're showing 599 for the 500/1.

I would go with the JL amp

I remember having a pair of those. They're dual 6 ohm VC's. something around 700wrms @ 2 ohms should yield you 500wrms @ 3 ohms. Just my .02

the 500/1 is a great amp. I had a 8w7 off a 500/1 for awhile but later moved onto the 1000/1 and 2 8w7s. They are great, but you can get far better for less money.
