gas milage sucks

my gas millage really sucks less than 20 miles. I have a 98 SE 2.0 with atx I have changed the plugs (ngk) the air filter,fuel filter,checked the tire pressure it's ok but no improvement not due for an oil change yet. I was looking at the manual and notice what it said about the plugs it calls for 2 styles(#1&2 are one style and #3and 4 are another) does it really matter???? the 3and4 calls for a prefix with fe. the car was givin to me and when I changed the plugs all of them where the same motorcraft platnium so i put the ngk in thinking it wouldn't matter. any suggestions.

i drive about 75 on the highway and 45 to 55 in town with red lights and all
26 is about as good as it gets if i gootch it likes 23

Never heard of running different plugs in the motor. Pull 'em out and put in some Autolite platinums; not double or quad or whatever, just single plats. Make sure they're gapped right, too. That could be the problem; if they're not gapped right.

I average 21-23 in my MS6 and I drive it like I'm on TV. :crazy:

when I put in the ngk's the box said not to gap them guess I'll go with the auto's.:shrug:

Mine sucks too, on the way to sz it took about $120.00 to get there and same home

My V6 Duratec did 380 miles with 12.5 gallons. That makes about 30mpg.
