Vibration at 3k in all gears

Hey guys,
Weird thing. I just got this car about 3 weeks ago. As I come up to 3,ooo rpms the shifter vibrates heavy. I can feel in "build up" as I aproach 2,500 rpm's and then It goes away at about 3,500 to 4,000. This happens in every gear. I first thought it could be the tranny mounts, but I'm not sure since it goes away and doesn't even return at high rpms. Any help?

so its only in the shifter?

if it were my car, I would pull the shift tower and inspect the shift tower bolts to see if there is any sheering going on.

I had a vibration at 2300 in a v6 auto, turned out to be bad plug wire.

can i inspect them by just removing the shift boot? I can also feel it a little bit in the steering wheel. Thanks

Check the front and rear motor mounts. My guess would be the rear is chewed up.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but how do I inspect the motor mounts? Will there be noticable wear if they need to be replaced?

You need to get under the car to check. The rear is nice and low fairly easy to check, the front located about 10" up. Look to see the condition of the inserts. Check this thread
