Sold The Mondeo(contour)..................welcome cosworth

hello all,

maybe you still know me, i had the blue ford mondeo with the us instrument cluster.
so, after 17 months partnership, the mondeo is sold.
1.6i 16v 90 hp was not great enough.

now, the 14 years old beauty has beome the mondeo's place

and it is........ an Ford Scorpio also known as Mercur Scorpio in the states......
his beating heart is an 2.9i 24V Cosworth engine with 194 HP directly on the Rear wheels.
ist has an 4 speed automatic gearbox......
and, i'm the second owner of this piece of beauty

well one thing is for sure...that car makes a strong case for beauty being on the inside and not the outside....a face only a mother could love....:laugh:

I remember it being a great looking car when it was first said to be coming here, particularly the black with silver lower cladding...but when it got to the states, it just never caught on...the xr4ti had a better run here and it didn't necessarily do all that well...

anyway, hope you enjoy it...(that car needs major cosmetic mods)

So the cossie Scorpio came between the Sierra and the Escort? I don't remember the Scorpio.... and I thought the only Merkur was the XR4TI (Sierra). Now that one was hot! Er.. the Cossie Sierra.. not the XR4TI.

nice Scorpio, I like We had an 88 Merkur Scorpio, and I had an 87 Merkur XR4ti. the scorpio was the moms and I had the XR!! Thats the engine we Scorpios in the states wish we had, the 2.9 24 valve V6!! I loved them cars, and loved the back seat in our scorpio. 1 day I wanna get back in the merkur world, the scorpio was about the only car of it's time to have power reclining rear seats, man I loved that feature:drool:

Yeah I'm pretty sure they did, the old 2.3L I-4 to be exact.

EDIT: Except the SVO had an intercooler stock.

ok, the front end is not the best from ford.....
bud, is the europes luxury car from the 80's.
and the last european ford with RWD and huge engin with a 2.9 engine.

the cars from now like the new mondeo, has only 2.0 liter 4 cylinder as strongest engine. the ford KA and fiesta has only an 1.3 16v in the front end. and all FWD.
then the new ford focus on european land has only an 1.1 16V turbo engine with 118 hp!!!!!

the scorpio is also the last big car from europe. the new mercedes, audi, bmw, and other cars has not the size of the scorpio. all tiny.

so, ugly or not, it's an real outlaw in the 21 century:laugh:

no, why did i buy an old coshworth? and even an ( for european sizes) a big car?

1* i love to do it on the old american way, even i still stay in europe.
cause i hate europe, and the other reason is that i want to show people that even big cars can exist in the 21th century

2* the car must be big, old, and fast. what car came in my picture? yup, the scorpio. for his 14 years is he still fast and strong.
and even faster then the police cars in europe
( no the cops dont use spikes to flatten tyres, no they dont push you off the road. and yes, the escape is possible.

3* i want a big car, and even strong car to pull my caravan. cause, does anybody see pulling a caravan of 1400 kilo with a fiat panda?:laugh:

they sure did the 2.3 turbo, but with less power the SVO had as high as 240hp if I remember the xr's was rated at 145 for auto's, 175 for manuals
