Tail lamps for different years?

Are the main part of the tail lamps the same for all years?

I think I might have found the answer, but if someone could confirm.....in the '98 and later cars there is a reflective strip on the bottom edge of the lamp assembly that is missing from the earlier ones?

no, the pre98 and post 98 outer tail lights are slightly different in shape and the type of bulb they use are different, also the connector might also be different also ...

However, you don't wanna mix taillights... it would be pretty obvious and look wierd.

yeah i did that and it looked really funny:blackeye: , i just bought one from a pull-a-part and thought it was the same. if you take a pic of it, the pre98 looks like it isn't even there.

well on the mystique at least the pre98 tails have two lenses, one clear one and one red on right on top of it, so yeah how they reflect light could be different.

i found that 98 tail lights an 99 were different. on the way the bulb holder was in it.

Oh, pooh. How different? I just bought a replacement off fleaBay and the guy didn't specify year other than to say "for 1998-2000.....".

the holder for the 98 is like the earlier years and the 99-00 are different. its hard to explain.

I'm guessing what you're saying is the bulb is the same, but the part of the socket that twists into the reflector housing is different?

So if the assembly I've got coming doesn't happen to be from a '98 I'll need a bulb holder too?
