Gas pumping problem

Hey Guys in my dad 98 GL we have had a problem the last 3 years where we cannot pump gas right we pull the trigger and it comes back up the neck so we need to feather the pump trigger im shure ford messed
This up and
Other people have this problem
Is it clogged? or bent idk what to do

Ive had the same problem. All I do is pull the pump out about an inch or two and then its fine. It has to do with that dumb spring on the pump.

IIRC, the pump senses that the tank is full, and filling up in the filler neck.
I guess the pump fills faster than the filler neck can accommodate? So having the nozzle shoved all the way in makes it auto-stop.

I do the same thing as above, pull it out a little, and set the auto-trigger.
