I got code P0401 and it says egr flow insufficient. Does this just mean I need a new EGR valve or could it be something else?

This is one of the most commonly posted fault code questions.
Have you tried doing any SEARCHing yet?

a simple search would have revealed this answer.
check your throttle body's EGR ports (remove TB, clean ports on the lower-firewall side of the mating surface). They are likely completely filled.
Consider a UIM/LIM rebuild, utilizing the how-to under Duratec Maintenance's "read me first" thread, as well.
EGR's rarely fail, but its not impossible.
a TB gasket is less than $2.00, so yank the TB and clean it out.. clear your PCM's memory to erase the code and be done.
