Welcome to the group. How did you and your dad find this car?

I'm in Annapolis and if you and your dad need help with anything, be sure to let me know.

Maybe this will be a good time to have some meets over on the Eastern Shore?

Again, welcome.

Welcome. Hope you enjoy hanging out with a special bunch of gearheads on the forum here. Funny that I'm welcoming you -- 'twas not long ago that Christine (LUCA) was welcoming me. I've owned my SVT for years now, but only recently decided I'd jump on the forums. Its been a worthwhile experience, both good for laughs and info.

Here's my advice. Change that ID straight away. No one needs to know that much about you at first glance. Besides, you might find that you'll get better responses if you don't advertise the fact that you're 16. Make no mistake, I was 16 once, too -- and I was spending some time spinning the occasional wrench on an '87 Ford Taurus wagon with a stick. There weren't too many of those. Of course, no one told me not to do a burnout in it, either. I probably tried. Hope no one was looking. Was a great car though -- you could go through any snow, and didn't need a roof rack for the skis.

I digress. Enjoy the car, read the FAQ and How-to, and throw out a post with any questions. Also, lots of folks on here are very pleased with Bill Jenkins at Team Ford -- there's a dealership with some aggressive pricing. I've been very pleased with Tousley Ford in Minnesota. Steve's the contact there. Depending on how much routine maintenance your previous owner did, you might find a daunting number of parts to buy. At least you'll now know where to get a fine price.

Enjoy -- take care.

I want to know that. Maybe I might let someone drive my car for me based on their screen name alone. Now I know that this person is 16 and that get's a :nonono: right away. Also, if the name is GTOPete but only because he'll never see this.

be as descriptive as you wanna be in your name. Like, Anarchy for Puppies or Spam lunchmeat in my lunchbox or Eat More Roadkill

LOL. alright. its cool. i know people are gonna bag on me cause of my age. my dad has been doing it, he's pissed his car doesnt have power leather seats and a sunroof.

nah, here's the thing though, it isn't too often that someone as young as you get's an SVT and finds CEG as well. I think the last youngest person with an SVT was about 17 and that seems like a year or so ago.

For the most part, alot of us started out pretty young. I was 21 when I got my first one almost 7 years ago.

I think most of what you'll hear will be the same as what you've already heard. Don't be crazy with the car, don't do silly things to it like a huge wing or glow in the dark wheels or whatever. The car isn't a drag car and never will be.

But what the car is is exactly what the name Contour implies. The car flows smoothly inside and out. Every touch and detail is all about pleasing transitions, smooth lines, flowing with the road on sweeping turns and switchbacks. Not bouncing and floating like a Cadillac but soft and taught like an in-shape womans stomach. In fact, it's more like a beautiful woman than a car. And needs to be treated like you'd treat a good woman. Take care of her, appreciate her beauty, notice the small details and the way she moves, ride her hard every now and then, never put away wet and always give her the respect she deserves.

deffinitely. i know. dad wont let me treat it like a beater. he made me wash and wax it in the cold weather the day i got it....talk about respect.

haha, that's funny, builds character and puts hair on your chest. Unless you're a girl, then you don't want none of that and neither will any of your boyfriends. Let's be honest, that ain't cool.

its all good though. it hasn't had a good cleaning and wax until i put it on. so it looks super nice. and i just fixed the headlights...they were all hazed n fogged. so it looks even better now. im still working on the shifter cables problems.

So $5 bucks says it gets in a wreck (his fault or not) by this day next year. Any takers?

i've had the svt since i was 16, never gotten in an accident. well, i did get rear ended by this gorgeous foreign girl when i was stopped at a light. but theres no real body damage. i just let her go under one condition, that was to give me her phone number :)

edit: When are you gonna post some pics!?

lol. i'll probably just get a cold air intake....but that will be WAY down the road. right now, all im focused on is the body and the engine stuff to keep it running. later will be power n handling n whatnot.
