Suggestions on setting up HOME Surround sound?

I know there USED to be a ton of audiophiles, and rather talented gurus that perused the audio forum. Here's hoping there are still some in here, as I haven't been in this forum for a WHILE, now!

I have a surround sound (5.1, 500W) that I wish to set up in the house I am in, but I've run in to a few snags.

I have a solid saltillo tile house.. no carpetting and no rugs (to speak of, at least). I also don't want visible wiring running either along the floorboards, or along the ceiling/wall joints. the place is rented, so modification of the structure is not an option.

Going either direction from the TV, I would have to cross an "opening" (a door, a walkway, a break in the wall structures) so routing all the wiring one direction or the other to avoid the doors is not an option, either.

I'm interested in the following:

Alternative methods I can't think of
wireless "adapters" (transmitter with multiple inputs stationed at the SS unit, and broadcast to receivers on multiple frequencies for multiple speakers??)
bluetooth add-ons?

I have researched bluetooth and wireless SS units, and speakers, but they are "buy it, and forget it" types of deals, not meant to be added TO an existing system. I am interested in converting, or adapting my CURRENT speakers, and unit.

ANY help?
 
At THIS point? I was attempting to avoid any new money. The system is BRAND NEW (use-wise) but is dated by about 2-2.5 years (purchased, never really used, and put in storage right after getting it)

I'd LIKE to not have to buy new speakers, or SS units, but am not opposed to purchasing wire management, or hiding materials, etc. I would also be willing to purchase new hardware, if (based on the review and suggestions of reputable members) it were a step in the RIGHT direction.
 
Yeah, they do make wireless speakers but the sound is never spot on. Technology will get there, just not there yet.

Since your mainly concerned about surrounds as I'm sure your center and main are mounted close to the reciever you can pick up a surround sound bar. While not cheap its an option.

EDIT* They do make extremely thin flat speaker wire which can be painted over.

Next we have Wireless Rear's for your SS. Always have to change batteries Im sure.....
I bet you hook the TRANSMITTER that come with this kit.....to your AMP/RECIEVER RCA OUT's to the RECIEVER that comes with these

What your looking for I bet is something like this, that will enable you to use your REARS? but this can only be used with PANASONIC stuffs?

The bluetooth, eehhhh dunno how far that could stretch.....
I know you can do wireless printing, pda and sound from your COMPUTER bluetooth wirelessly


And I know if you look for TRANSMITTERS, Im sure you can find one that plugs into your computer for wireless audio to your AMP/RECIEVER.

That is what I would reccomend too. Yamaha makes a nice sound bar as well, but if you don't want to spend the $1000 on a sound bar, using hideable speaker wire seems to be the only choice.
 
Watch out because bluetooth doesn't have the bandwidth for home stereo audio. It is OK for crappy little computer speakers and headsets. I wouldn't use it for much else.

What about using some of that crown molding that's made to hide speaker wires? You could double-stick tape it where the ceiling meets the wall.

now.... we're getting somewhere... flat speaker wire to the crown molding.. around the room and back down.. Hmm...

I looked on crutchfield, and ebay, but nothing came up. Any particular makers you can name to help the search?
